Dual Screen MOD for Eyefinity

post #1 of 11
Thread Starter
I am trying to take both of my asus monitors and put them together. I've read a review posted by a member suggesting that by removing the bezel you can get closer to achieving a thin area between both monitors. I have done this and am now looking on getting them even closer. Take a look at the pictures.

Any idea's on how to go about this are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

totaly not worth screw up your monitors for =/

either suck it up an
a) get another monitor and go with 3 screens
b) just use 1 monitor

even with the bezels gone, its still gonna look like crap.

With 3 monitors in Eyefinty, you can game 100x easier (especially FPS games). Your crosshair is natively in the center. So with 2 monitors, its right behind the bezel. With 3, its right in the center of the center screen.

When Eyefinity is used, almost everybody will use it on 3 screens because its so much better than trying to deal with 2 and having bezel problems.

as other have said, the very center of your screen(s) will be seperated, 3 monitors eliminates that and puts the bezels in your natural "blind spots"

just as an example:

3 monitors:

|| || -- || ||

2 monitors

|| -||- ||

the dashes represent your area of focus on the screen, the vertical lines represent your monitors bezels, notice how your feild of focus is seperated to an uncomfortable range with only 2 monitors?

Thanks so much guys. I really appreciate your help! I don't think my 5870 can drive 3 monitors though... I can run two at 1080p at Ultra settings though... It would be quite costly to run 3 monitors.

I am probably going to buy another graphics card and a new power supply. Can you run two 5850's even though they are from different manufacturers in Crossfire? I was thinking of pairing with the ASUS.

You can run any 2 brands together as long as they are the same series card.
