No such thing as future-proofing, man. By the time that games use that many threads and more than 4GB ram (or half of the stuff in your build, really), there will be something bigger and better and cheaper than anything you can buy right now. Only reason to get an i7 and more than 4GB RAM right now is if you do CAD or video editing or something and *really* need that extra performance.
Yeah I know. It's more of a mentality issue and less of actual thing I can accomplish. I look at the i5 and the i7 and I say to myself is it worth 100 bucks more? And usually I say sure why not. Next thing you know, after you've done that to RAM, Graphics Card, PSU, MoBo's etc. You are 1,000 bucks over budget.

And oh yeah...it will also be a ton faster.

I already own 1 F4. I use it right now. It was a cheap storage solution and I haven't had a minute worth of problems with it. So I am all for it. However. For a gaming drive. wouldnt the 6gbs drive at 10k rpm be faster for game loading and data gathering than 2 raided drives at 7200rpm and 3gbs? I was only considering the WD raptor for performance gains. I could be wrong tho.

A quick search on a Spinpoint/VelociRaptor comparison turned up this review. As you can see, a single Spinpoint F3 is only slightly behind the VelociRaptor and even beats it in one test. Imagine the extra speed from RAID0 (I know that it's theoretically double, but it's, what, an extra 60-70% in real-world scenarios?). Also note that the VelociRaptor's maximum throughput is 221.8 MB/s - not even enough to fully saturate SATA II (3.0 Gb/s = ~384 MB/s), let alone SATA III. The "SATA III 6.0 Gb/s" is just a marketing gimmick; no mechanical hard drives that I'm aware of even come close to SATA II's maximum. Maybe some hardcore $5000 enterprise drives or something...

Only (current) purpose of SATA III is for fast SSDs. They are the only things that use the bandwidth.

No problem. Everything else looks good. Expensive and complete overkill, but it's your cash.

The GTX 590 scares me and going dual cards is more of an upgrade choice rather than an initial build. I do hear that SLI is better than CrossFire and that nVideo drivers are better (though I've never had a problem with any of my ATI/AMDs), and you stated that you want nVidia anyway.

Have you thought of just using your current GTX 480 SC until the GTX 600s come out?

Well my original plan was to go nvidia surround vision and I've been planning off that. I was on newegg and I looked for a 2nd 480 GTX SC+ but they weren't carrying them. However I did notice you can just order them straight off the EVGA website. So thats an option. What I was thinking right now, was just get two 580's and selling my 480 on eBay or craigslist and see if I can pull anything from that. Its only like 6 months old if that, and I have the box, all the paper work, I clean it every 4/5 days. So its still in amazing quality.

Any idea on an ETA for the 600 serise gtx's? the 580's are still relatively new. Maybe 5 to 10 months give or take? Its always a possibility. darn you technology curve!
