H50 Temperature Problem

Thread Starter
Hi Guys,

I have just moved all my parts over to a new Coolermaster Ctorm Scout case and i have noticed my CPU temperature has gone up! When removing my motherboard, i kept my H50 attached and lifted the whole lot out and put it into the new case. It used to idle at 28 degrees in my antec900. Now in my Coolermaster Scout, its running at 35degrees. I just ran Prime95 for 5mins and temperature shot up to 60 degrees! Max i saw it in my antec 900 was 40 degrees after being on all day playing games!

I have tried different fans with the radiator, and i have loosened the h50 pump off and twisted the block round but no joy.

Is it worth reapplying the thermal paste? I can't work it out

MANY THANKS

where is your rad positioned?

if it is in the rear it might have been sucking hot air that your VGA is releasing..
since you are using a unlocked 6950 i assume it a reference cooler which exhaust
hot air from the back of your case right?

I have just upgraded to a 6950 which i unlocked yeah. Rad is mounted at the rear, same as it was in my antec 900. I just realised Catalyst center had disabled my cool and quiet so i re enabled it and temperatures idle are now 31 degrees which is about 3 - 4 more than it was in my old case.

I have also mounted the PSU up the correct way in this case so the fan is on the bottom dont know if that makes a difference...doubt it though as it has nothing to do with cpu cooling

I have cleaned off the thermal paste and reapplied artic silver 5 and its running maybe 1 degree less at the moment. about 30 degrees. My H50 pump is making a subtle high pitched noise which is really annoying me...anyone else had this? If i set the pump to 60% the noise dissapears
