I didn't understand a word of that. Although I'm guessing it was sarcasm?

You also missed the part where he said he has a fully functional quad core seeing as he unlocked his X2 to an X4.

Thuban chips have stronger IMC's and the northbridge can easily hit 3ghz on a 4ghz 1055t.

When tweaked properly, thubans will be a little faster than there deneb brothers.

If the X2 had the extra crippled cores I would recommend upgrading to an X6 seeing as they can be had for a very good price at the moment.

However, seeing as you have a fully functional X4 I'm afraid the only viable upgrade for you is Sandy Bridge, and even then I don't think the performance gains are worth the extra investment in terms of price : performance from a quad. But if I had to choose an upgrade route, this would be the one.

Stick with what you have and invest in something else. Whether it be a more powerful GPU or an SSD.

My strongest recommendation would be an SSD seeing as your GPU is more than capable. You will see some very noticeable improvements from an SSD in terms of responsiveness inside the OS.

I would go for the x6 1090T black edition, I have an 1055T myself and regret not going for the black edition. Or if you're willing to wait the x8 is coming out this year

I'll be upgrading to it, having 8-cores will be too tempting for me

Just wait for Bulldozer, it's only 1 month left (right?) and the current AMD CPUs won't bring you further in performance.

Thread Starter
Thanks for the posts guys, I really appreciate the opinions.

Though, how am I narrow minded for not wanting to hear Intel opinions?

I don't have the money for a new motherboard... I have enough for a new processor, which is why I said, no intel.

Obviously if I had the money for a 2500k I would get it? Seriously lol??

Of course it was sarcasm Also he will notice difference between fully 4 quad core, like Phenom X4 vs. unlocked Athlon to X4. More cache gives the difference. Not much, but he will notice difference in many programs and games.

You just made it sound like you didn't want Intel because it was Intel, regardless of the performance you could get.

You will not really see a significant gain in performance in far most applications if you choose the hexacore Thuban.
Bulldozer will be out in about one or two months. I'd recommend consider waiting.
