[BIP]Pandora's Mini Box

Hello guys from Overclock.net

A little story on how I got my idea for this mod.
Well In Holland we got an Lan party that is on a camping ground that takes place every summer.
The event well be 11 day's.
Because taking a big rig is a big hassle I decided to make a little lan system.
Well how little and how extreme can we go. biggrin.gif
Well I was looking for a nice mini-itx bord that had a good look.
Unfortunately the boards of sandybridge does not allow us to overclock even the K models but that is not a really big deal because even on stock speeds they give great performance.
Maybe in the near future they make P67 or Z68 itx models but I have to wait for that smile.gif

So while I was looking only 1 sprung out to me and that was the ECS H67h2-i smile.gif
Very nice colors and layout and connections (usb3 is a must)
Well because they are very hard I had to search very hard and found one on ebay biggrin.gif

So here are my plans smile.gif

For the case I am dead set on using the Cubitek Mini Tank biggrin.gif
With some modding I will put an 280 rad in the top of the case and an 140 in the front of it.
The drivebay's will be removed and I will try to make a plate for 2 hdd's

The case will be painted White with some black parts.

Now for the hardware to use smile.gif

Cpu - Intel 2500K/2600K (It depends if the price of the 2600k will still be dropping in a month)
Gpu - Gtx 560 TI (for the time being I will take 1 580 out of my main system because when this build is ready I can resume the main build biggrin.gif)
Mobo - Ecs H67h2-i
Case - Cubitek Mini Tank
Psu - Silverstone 600 watt full modulair
Hdd's - some spinpoints f3's in raid0

Cooling

The cooling will be this

Xspc 400l/h pump/res because this should be more than sufficient for such a small system smile.gif
1 Phobya 280 rad 1 one smaller 140 rad in front
Ek Supreme HF old series
Ek Waterblock for gpu with white acetal top
Maybe a little waterblock for the chipset if I can find one that will fit biggrin.gif
Fittingen - Bitspower 3/8 black
hoses - white ones

The cables will all be cut to size and sleeved mainly white with black heatshrink and maybe some black in between them.
I am looking for REAL white connectors but the only real white connectors are from the new bit fenix cables but maybe I take that and remove the connectors from them smile.gif

Here are the few foto's I already got smile.gif

The ECS H67H2-I I have orders at Ebay biggrin.gif

Here a little impression of how small a mini itx really is biggrin.gif(it is a 120mm fan)

2hztxt1.jpg

The case I am gonna use (will order in the next 2 weeks)
The Cubitek mini tank (not my photo but so you can get an impression)

a5hlp3.jpg

The cpu waterblock I am gonna use with a white acetal top that I have ordered @ highflow

The plan is to have this ready in 2 and a half months.
The case and some other parts will be orderd in 2 weeks and next month the cpu and the watercooling.

Keep you all posted devil-smiley-019.gif

if you're going with the H board you don't need to get a unlocked processor. But I guess you're going to upgrading later when they make p and h series mini itx boards. In any case good luck with your build.

Did This thread die? I love SFF builds and wanted to see it get finished.

I was wondering, I run a pico-itx pc inside a 5" bay in my storage pc (server/media) and use it to leave overnight downloading as its veeeery low power consumption, point I´m trying to make, surely you can get an even smaller case being itx? Don´t get me wrong, that case looks sweet, but hell maybe more of a challlenge in a small one? if you get a small radiator, it can always go on the outside (screwed in on the usual fan backplate) plus it would look reaaaally good to have the piping come out of the case and into it (I did this in my previous mod, using a full plexy sunbeam cube), other than that, subbed, this looks awesome, just my 2 cents biggrin.gif
