He can't, because then he can't overclock on his Intel board.

What are using to determine that? I bet you it's cpu-z. what version are you using?

EDIT: the new cpu-z fixed a bug for the gigabyte b3 mobos, which showed inaccurate readings. Could be a similar issue.

Set turbo frequency to the desired frequency. That's how it was meant to be overclocked. The problem you have described is what happens when you set base multi to 45 or whatever and leave the turbo at stock.

lol **** the what? Now i've raised the multiplier to 48x so its OC-ed to 4.8GHz and suddenly a ventilator on my H50 goes crazy and reduces the temperature of CPU to arund 55 degrees on full load, and frequency is now constant 3.99GHz in my Intel Extreme Overclocking Utility while stress testing

what caused the ventilator to start spinning at higher RPM and why now??

show us some screenshots man. By the way, like I said, what are you using to read temps and voltage?

EDIT:
Try these:

Cpu-z 1.57.1 link: ftp://ftp.cpuid.com/cpu-z/cpu-z_1.57.1-setup-en.exe

Realtemp 3.67 link: http://www.mediafire.com/?91blrwtl1lenzal

I'd turn off Turbo, but both C1E and EIST should work while OC'ing.

This.

After reading reviews for OP's particular board, I'd say it simply doesn't support OC'ing. Sorry OP, but your board is simply too cheap/not equipped for OC'ing.

imho these utilities (asus including) are a load a crap. use cpu-z and realtemp/coretemp to read temsp.

Cpu-z 1.57.1 link: ftp://ftp.cpuid.com/cpu-z/cpu-z_1.57.1-setup-en.exe

Realtemp 3.67 link: http://www.mediafire.com/?91blrwtl1lenzal

Load prime blend and use those to do all the reading then post a screenshot.
