Charity Build?

Thread Starter
my cousin started the charity 'Daniel's Promise' in Uganda, it helps get orphans of the streets and gets them educated and more.

http://www.danielsdream.org.uk/

they have 5 computers, and only 3 work.

2 need new hardrives, and there are 30 children and more coming so we need more computers, we do not have much of a budget, just wondering, could i get donations from manufacturers for parts for new pc's and repairing old ones? or what's the best way to go about it?

thanks

dan

like what im trying to say is, what sort of build's should i be looking at, im thinking cool as possible, with dust filters all round as to increase longetivity, what sort of futureproofing? who should i contact, i have specced up builds, but we aren't sure of budget, heres a small build idea;

corsair cx430 (love corsair, and cheap!) £35
Xenta mid black tower case (good cooling for a £20 case)
Hitachi CD Drive (cheapest possible, will search around) £10
Asus m4n68t-M LE V2 (cheapest i found and onboard graphics) £34
AMD Athlon X3 450 (bit beefier than a dual core, is it overclockable?) £56
G-Skill 4gb ddr3 1333 ripjaws cl9 1.5v (like a pound more than generic and branded) £34
Coolermaster Hyper 212+ (best cheap cooler) £21
Xilence case fan 80mm (just a cheap 80mm improve cooling) £3.48
Xilence black 120mm fan (push pull on hsf, and 2 more case fans) x4 £20
Samsung spinpoint F3 500gb (not the cheapest but great performance and size) £33

all prices off ebuyer, also anyway to get a copy of w7 for free as its a charity?

I don't think you need to bother with extra fans or an aftermarket heatsync... i don't think there going to be doing any hardcore gaming/oc. Ive been running a few PCs nonstop for at least a year with stock heatsyncs with no problems..

You can get a generic brand RAM, case, PSU, fans etc....
And i think you can get a free w7 by contacting MS and explaining what its for.

you can pick up some generic brand RAM for even cheaper
and you can get some generic brand cases for super cheap.

true, but i reckon the performance boost would be worth a little? but we will find out with the budget, it has a registered charity number for anyone who thinks this is dodgy, i'll give it to those who want it but atm i cbf to go into my emails, i also thought the heatsink would prolong lifespan and reliability.

what do you reckon my chances are if i ring up a company like corsair and ask for a donation of like some ram and heatsinks or something maybe? or am i better ringing up business' like ebuyer etc?

thanks, dan.

I think its worth a try calling up some companies and asking. You never know what youl get

And i don't think its worth the performance boost. I myself ran everything stock running 24/7 with 1 case fan for 3 years and i was just fine for what i did. (Light gaming, picture/video editing... etc)

I doubt these PCs will ever need much from them and you could just save some money on the parts, and maybe have enough for a spare PC or something.
