how does the total video graphics memory works it saids i have 4095MB
what is shared system memory 2559MB? how does this play alone with my 1536mb of dedicated memory i have?

does both card shared memory 1.5gb since they are in sli?

Yes the total available graphics memory is 4095 MB. The dedicated memory that can be used from the cards is 1536mb. With any sli or crossfire configuration, any 2 cards share only the lowest possible ram available. Shared system memory is everything that will be using the ram.

Your computer allows 2.5gb of your normal ram to be used by your graphics cards. It's significantly slower than the memory on the graphics cards though, and it's basically just overflow.

The 1.5GB is mirrored on the two cards, they do not share it.

Here's what you need to understand in all this:

Your setup has 1.5GB of effective vram capacity, as all the data needed to render an entire frame gets duplicated onto the memory of both cards.

If you exceed this usage by any significant amount, your performance will start to tank.

Use the OSD capability in Afterburner or Precision to monitor your vram usage in real-time while you play. If you start to see your memory usage in the 1.5GB range and at the same time you start to get choppy performance, then you should try lowering settings to try to get the vram usage down.

The primary settings that impact the vram usage are:
1) Resolution (of course)
2) AA level
3) Texture Size/Quality/Resolution ... however the game expresses it.

Note that Afterburner/Precision won't ever show a vram usage number higher than your physical memory capacity, but a game can still USE more than that ... it'll be using system RAM, though, which will tank the performance.
