Need A Small But Potent PC

Thread Starter
I made a build for our kitchen but it's far too big. We've been making due for about a year now but it's been having wifi trouble so Ive been trying to decide:
1)redo the build with a different case and PSU

2)maybe a new computer if that doesnt work

Currently we have the build:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811163117

Nice case but its far too large and bulky.

Mobo
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128405

CPU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115215

PSU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341018

GPU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102835

Thats what we have now.

The only reason I didnt go smaller is because of the PSU. Can we get a slimmer one and a different case or would it not work?

you should look into mini-itx

There's a lot of slimmer options out there, but you're going to have to get a low-profile video card if you want to go any slimmer than the case you have now. Most HTPC cases come with a PSU. I kinda like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811121100. But like I said, you're biggest concern is going to be finding a low-profile video card that suits your needs.

I don't think you could make that build be much smaller.

What I would do would be sell the case/motherboard and replace it with a ITX 1156 board and a Lian Li PC-Q11. The Q11 fits standard size PSUs so you don't have to sacrifice PSU quality for compactness.

MiniATX works only unless it has wifi built in or a powerful enough usb wifi that isnt slow. Thats why we went microatx - for the PCI slot

And alot of them arent powerful at all. Dual cores at barely 2ghz isn't exactly great.

GIGABYTE GA-E350N-USB3 + mITX case and PCI-Express wireless card of your choice.

You could easily sell the parts you already have and make more than enough for an E-350 ITX build that will play HD no problem. What you have is overkill

Use AMD Llano(not zacate,as you want potent, which zacate are not) with mini-itx motherboard with WI-FI. cheap, GPU good enough for HD. The only problem is that you have to wait till next month for the unveiling

This card may have a little more power than you need, but it's relatively cheap and has HDMI out:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102874. A cheaper option would be http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125251.
