I was getting a bit worried with my reference 570 due to the VRM issues some people claim to have had.
Well, going by your sig rig, nothing other than the CPU was OC'ed
And we only have what info you give us to go by

But no, I don't think he can charge you more just by batch # alone!
Unless he's proven that, THAT particular chip, can do atleast [insert-insane-OC-here].
Because as we've been telling you all thread long, good batch number does not guarantee a good OC.

I was aiming to keep my OP brief as it was a pretty sraight forward question but yeh I see your point. I just wanted some other peoples opinions as no one I know is really into this sort of thing.

If I can get him down on price I might go for it but so far I've been picking them up second hand for about £100 and selling them for the same. An extra £50 does seem a bit excessive.

Don't think it's worth the trouble and cash looking for one, you'd be better off just buying a few of the cheapest and hope for the best. It's what I usually do with GPU's, buy 3 from different stores and keep the best.

The max I have achieved with any chip is 4.4ghz which don't get wrong isn't bad but it took alot of voltage which resulted in high temps even with water cooling and a lapped CPU.

From what I've read the max I can expect from the motherboard I have is probably a 220 bclk, maybe not even that. So my aim is to achieve that. I won't be satisfied untill I've reached at least 4.6ghz stable or as near as possible.

Can people refrain from posting "what's the point" or "why waste your time" because in all honesty there probably is no point apart from achieving a goal and ultimately it's my time to waste so don't worry your selves about it. I see these answers pop up quite regularly in overclock threads even though were on overclock.net.

I don't mean to be ignorant or ungrateful but people seem to have a habit of answering questions that havn't been asked.

If you can get him down to the normal price of a 2nd hand 920, and get out of the deal pretty much square when you sell your current CPU. I'd say go for it.

But I just can't find any reason, to justify bumping the price by 50% JUST because of the stepping

220 bclk is achiveable with your board. bclk is more dependent on board, cpu does very little in this regard that what i had seen.
any how good luck with your findings.
