DC Power in receivers?

Does anyone know of any guaranteed DC power thats in receivers? I want to add a 12v cooling fan, but I can't think of any place to hook it up to.

Receivers, (or any audio equipment for that matter) don't, no, CAN'T use DC power since it's flat. AC's alternating sine waves is what makes sound in the first place. And I don't think any AC-DC conversion happens, maybe for the internal processors, but even then, I dunno where you'd solder a 3-pin connector. Your best route would either be those pico-PSUs or maybe a small PSU linked with a 12V trigger somehow. Or buy 120V PC fans (loud as **** though).

Edit #2 - Would the fans be on 24/7 or every time you turn your A/V gear?

Do you have a multimeter and can we get a pic of the receiver in question. A pic of it open would be best so the internals are visible.
Most if not all of the internal power is DC while the input power from the wall is AC. Im think even the amp would use DC as it is cheaper to find parts in DC and easier to remove noise. Now there will be a good spot to barrow from but i wont be able to tell you without at least a pic. Most likly there is a transformer that has multiple lines coming from it. Those will come out of the transformer and go into the pcb the 12v or 5v ones will be regulated for a fan i would say take from before this point as long as the voltage is good the fan wont care how constant the current is.

I would love to help more but i haven't been in many receivers. Most of the ones ive been in have fans already installed.

I'll get a picture tomorrow. I imagine there's gotta be something usable in it, I'll try out the multimeter tomorrow as well.

Hopefully I'll find a 7V line ^_^

7v is a odd voltage just not as common as say 5 or 12 so it could be there but is unlikely. It would be a great voltage for a fan though. I suspect you will be able to trace a 12,5,3.3 volt line as these are common and its easy for company's to find parts.

I have DC ran in my house when I redid everything back in the day. just used a monster 100lbs battery in the basement w/ a trickle charger and its really just meant for small thing like the 120mm fan on top of my receiver, but something like this would take care of it.

Actually some amps/receivers do use DC power. I couldn't name off every single one, but a prime example is my Kenwood KA-9150 (9100), it's a DC Stereo Integrated Amplifier.
