there were several updates to them whenever the betas were released but I bought mine just after that so they were already out.

Looks like the review was done just before the 11.4 pre-release was made available March 8th. http://www.overclock.net/ati-drivers...rivers-up.html The article was posted March 7th which means they tested before that. Anyways, good results.

I'm curious to see how 4 6970s would do in 5760x1080 and 7680+1600 to see if the 11.4s helped at all. Someone else who tested 12.2M pixels back on the 10.6? drivers had every game crash in 4-way and some games crash in 3-way.

I noticed in a lot of reviews, the 6000 series seem to be CPU limited at 1080P in most games as the review I linked to earlier showed and this one too with dual and tri-fire making no difference: http://www.behardware.com/articles/8...e-records.html (11.4) At 1600P they open up. F1 2010 did it at all resolutions. Mafia II not working with 6990+6970 at 5760x1080.

Since 6970 CF does better in every test against the 6990 even at similar clock speeds, I'm assuming the 8x8x is holding back the 6990 compared to 16x16x 6970 CF? http://www.behardware.com/articles/8...e-records.html

I was reaching the thermal limit of the card that I was able to surpass only by water cooling them. At 975 the fan would get up to 65% in games that run real hot like Rift @ 2560x1600 with Supersampling on.

Can the fan be loud? YES 70% and up it can be loud as hell. This is because its a high quality, powerful fan. The fan and the card as a whole is a high quality, very solid and a heavy duty feel I have never seen in a stock cooler design.. All top notch components and a very nice power delivery system.

its a blower type of fan, they are loud by nature by the way they works, specially if you have 1 tiny 5cm fan (or similar) spinning @ 4k RPM or more..

youre a very impresionable person; you just looked at 1 giant/heavy card and the first toughts that comes to your mind are "high quality" hehe... no biased subjetive thinking there

we're talkin about actual performance and your stuck on the fan... and as you can see I have waterblocks on mine. who cares?!? 8 years old? you break in the thread accusing someone you don't know of being "a very impresionable person" cause I'm giving a review of something I own. Have you even seen one in real life?
