Don't mind people like him . They just like coming to Ati threads and pasting stuffs without knowing anything. I'm sure he doesn't even know 6990 can hit 1.1Ghz.

The ATI driver issues are so overblown it's funny.

The only issue I had was running 3870 trifire a long time ago and that was because my 3870 x2 was bought as a demo model and whoever had been using it somehow broke one of the cores.

It wasn't software related and the drivers have only improved since then.

The fact is that the ATI cards are very competitive with the Nvidia cards at the moment and if people stopped whining about drivers the two companies would probably be neck and neck in terms of discrete GPU market share.

90dB? If I wanted a constant airhorn in my PC then I'd have found a way to do so. I wouldn't spend $700 on a card that is equal to my Marshall at halfway. XD

I'll take those 580s now thank you.

Despite it IS impressive, I still think they seriously screwed up. I wouldn't have run my fan at 100% on the 4890 I had due how loud it was, around 60dB, despite it being capable of keeping the core cool at 1GHz.

Asinine at best. Try again TT, seriously, wait for the Accelero Xtreme to become compatible before you try this please. kthxbai.

IF you set the fan at 100% its that loud BUT when I had mine on, it never went over 60-65% on auto. Gotta read between the lines...

Beautiful setup regardless.

I knew I had seen people pushing to 1k before on the 6990s. We should do a 590 SLi vs 6990 CFX bench off tournament when they decided what do with our voltage, PDL/OCP. As it stands its ovakill
Overkill is stock for us folk heh. Ya we should, I'd be down. new 11.5 drivers just came out today. Off for some serious testing...

Why people complaining about running the fan at 100%? You wouldn't run it that high for normal usage. My reference 6950s would be loud at 100% fan too but i've never had to run them that high. My HIS 6950 is running at 100% Usage 1050 core 24/7 and i only need to put the fan @ 60% to keep the temp cool enough.

Then why doesn't AMD sell a bare card with no heatsink fan for $100 less if it's such a stupid idea to run it the way AMD designed it?

Why should we need to modify a card we just spent 7 bills on just to get it to run without being aurally uncomfortable at the limit?

Again it wouldn't be that loud at lower % fan than 100%. I can say that almost all cards ATi or Nvidia are LOUD at 100% fan. Only the non-reference ones like Asus DCII or MSI Twin Frorz II/Lightning are quieter. I've used GTX580, 570, 6970, 6950 and i can say that from my experiences.

It's the 6990 at 70% fan speed that is loud. Techpowerup Wiazzard said he could hear the fans in the background while he was on the phone with the reviewer.

]\\/[EGADET]-[ can you confirm if some of these games(AvP, CoD4, Civ5, F1 2010) are still getting no benefit going from dual to quad crossfire with the new drivers: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/P...990_CrossFire/
and if UT3 & WoW gets only a couple fps benefit.
