$90 to spend at newegg.com - Page 3

Just finished ordering a Samsung F3 1tb drive, as well as a 8gb flash drive and a dvi cable needed for my HTPC, thanks to the savings from getting the Samsung over the WD drive.

Thank you everyone for your help. My next purchase will be a C300, a new GPU, and depending on which is faster, SB or a bulldozer setup. +rep to everyone that helped.

Sounds great. You will not be disappointed. Also, since you were wondering about the performance of both the Black and F3:

Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB FALS

The Caviar Black gets soundly beaten. It's louder, too.

If thats the case, ill do an error scan when I get it, if it passes, ill clone my hard disk and use the Samsung for my boot drive and the black for my games and music.

Doing raid 0 with 1tb Blacks is a crap shoot. Even if I do get a drive that is capable of it, it would require a lot of risk and time. Furthermore, the warranty would be voided if a drive did fail, because the Caviar Blacks are no longer Raid supported by WD.

I just got my new drive installed, and I immediately ran an HDTune benchmark on my old one and the new one. Some pretty decent increases in both min and max transfer rates, as well as burst rate. Only loss is access time. I also threw my new 8gb usb stick in there too to see how it runs.
