Definately Happening

That's the whole point in going 69xx!!

Right, Brand, Cooler etc. are tenative. 2Gb is mandatory. Purchase date will depend on the best summer deals.

I've seen reports of it unlocking but wouldn't mind grabbing one with cheap fans and applying an aftermarket cooler. The budget here is to do it right!

The QUESTION....is will my Phenom Tricore and 770 chipset limit the power of this GPU? Also, should I be considering NB cooler?

I'm asking all this in preperation of what prices to watch. not what to buy right now. I'm crazy, not stupid! biggrin.gif

Maybe not computers, but it will in my wallet. Also, it's more tongue-in-cheek self mocking the fact that I will *not* be buying nvidia. Thanks but not happening, don't bother suggesting it.

Lol. Alright. rolleyes.gif So why is this in an AMD/NVIDIA area instead of AMD?

Haha! You made me look! I did a double take but it appears I didn't fail here. You did. Thanks for playing anyways!

Incidentally, here's a peek inside my brain:

Yes, I know it's an ugly mess of cables I need to clean up, It's on the agenda.
The point is I've got just enough room for a NB & SB cooler if need I believe.

Also, unnecessarily quoting the post directly above yours in unedited formats is bad form.

I saw this as well. I may get a gtx580 to use just for BF3.lol This tells me that they are desinging it to work the best with nvidia cards. I heard that Just cause 2 is made to work with nvidia in order to get the best performance out of it. We will have to wait and see what happens though.

Sorry, not trying to be a *****. I guess no one here is really bandwidth-bothered by an extra low res pic anyway. We all fail a little here and there. For example:

My thread title was perhaps not the most descriptive. I mean for it to be more of relative-to-my system question than an blanket question.

I have a 740BE and as X3 at stock BFBC2 won't fully utilize a single 5770 unless i turn the aa/af up at 1080p. Overclocked as X4 still need to turn aa/af up to get close to max utilization out of the cards, though the highest oc it'll go as a quad is just over 3.5.

So far you have not mentioned your 720 unlocking. Does it unlock to X4 and if so how high can you clock it? If you are looking for something now, the sapphire 5850 extreme is a good deal on a plenty powerful card to pair with your 720. The 6850/460 would be another good pairing in the ~150 range. A 5870/6950 would also be a good step up for over 200. I wouldn't spend 350-500 on a 570/6970/580; if you have that much for upgrades I'd start considering a new cpu.
