There are several psu calculators out there. Google it or visit corsair.com.

I can't believe this thread made it to 4 pages long. BF3 will be coming out around when Kepler should be. Wait for that.

Honestly, I feel like tessellation may play a big role in this title which would make it more geared towards Nvidia cards (again). A single GTX 580 plays the unoptimized pre-alpha/alpha version of the game right now on high settings at 1080p. So the final, more optimized, version of the game will be able to be played at those settings on a lesser card more likely.

However, if you want to play the game for sure at high settings then just wait for Kepler. Thats what i'm doing.

Newegg.com - CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX850 V2 850W ATX12V v2.31/ EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC High Performance Power Supply

Check that one. The 12v rail is 70w. Some cards here at the egg show what the minimum 12v rail should be rated at. There are people here much more qualified to explain single rail or multi rail psu's and the benefits each hold. The raidmax you linked has four 12v rails with the highest one at 32w.

I can't remember which card I was looking ( 69XX or 580 ) at but it required a min of 42w on the 12v rail.

Just one more thing to consider......

And the best answer to your question is to wait. Buying a card right now for the intention of playing BF3 with it is stupid.
This.

don't buy a card now for a game in november..

7xxx series comes out in like 2-4 months if you can wait that long.. I have no idea when Nvidia's Kepler core comes out.

Yup.

repi said that the settings used were:

1080p
4x MSAA
60 FPS locked.

The GTX 580 seems like the card to get for BF3.

Let's just hope Kepler rolls around before.

They are just showing gameplay footage on a gtx 580. That is not an indication of how they plan on running. Of course, they want to run it at 60fps. Max eye candy may drop fps to 30. Who knows.

Scan the deals section and jump on the next big deal for psu and video card. If you buy your card next week, nobody says you have to not buy any games until BF3 releases.

Buy now and enjoy some other games.

Thread Starter
Christ, I've said it a dozen times. I'm buying the current generation of cards but waiting for their price drops against the next generation's release. So it makes perfect sense for me to do my math against them now.

Do people just read the title and skim the post to quote something they agree with while not paying attention to any of the real purpose of the thread and it's content? I thought my thread was appropriately titled but only like three or four people have actually posted something relevant that wasn't already stated and known.

FFS...I'm not buying a ****ed nvidia.

Ditch the fanboyism and start going for price/performance.

If you're that into ATI grab the equivalent of the 580, the 6970 with a good cooler and OC it to 580 specs.
