2600K Best Memory for Gigabyte UD-4

Hey guys,

trying to figure out the best memory i can buy for helping OC my soon to be 2600K on a Gigabyte MOBO. On this board I can throw many variations of Memory at it but have been told by many to just stick with the 1600?? with the 9-9-9-24 timings?

i was planning on buying something like G. Skill Ripjaws memory. Does this sound like the best memory for this CPU. I looked and the volts are 1.5v which i assume thats what you want--the lower the better. But I noticed on the memory standard for the board to be DDR3 2133/1866/1600/1333/1066.

Would this memory actually be any better? it has the 1866 which i thought it might have less bottlenecking issues and not hold back the CPU.

Any Memory experts out here that can help me make a good decision before i purchase?

Thanks guys

The most popular seem to be either the RipjawX and the Corsair Vengeance. I personally have a 8-8-8-24 Vengeance kit on the exact same setup and I'm very happy with it.

Hardly any ram is going to hold the chip back since you can overclock it independent of ram speed. Getting higher clocked ram to run at rated speeds is also more difficult. Pretty much, as people have suggested, most 1600mhz ram should be sufficient and is still inexpensive.

So if you had a choice of memory between Ripjaws and Ripjaws X Would it really make that big of a noticeable difference in timings for benching?

yes, go 4x2gb if you really need 8gb rather than 2x4gb for better frequency and timing

I have the same board, and went with Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz (8-8-8-24). Here's how they do @ rated specs:
