Looking for a laptop...

What is your maximum budget? 1500

What country are you in? US

What will be the uses of this laptop? Movies, notes, music, ect

Do you have brand loyalty or care which brands we select for you? anything but asus

What screen size do you require? 14+

What screen resolution do you require? i'm looking for something bigger, please see the post below

Are you looking to buy NEW or would refurbished/recertified/used be okay? meh new please

How long should the battery last? (Under optimal conditions, no movies/games/heavy internet) idk, long enough D:

What games would you like to play with your laptop? And on what settings? Not going to be a primary gaming computer, so none at this time.

What operating system do you need? (if any) don't need an os, if it comes down to it ill grab a free copy from my school

Is there a certain style of laptop you want? (aluminum, black, gaming, etc.) no idea, keyboard lights are pretty cool

How much hard drive space do you need? Not much at all, thinking about installing an SSD with whatever I get anyways so who cares what drive I get

Do you need any special hardware? (blue ray, webcam, specialty ports, etc.) I'm specifically looking for a laptop with the new Sandy Bridge processors, other then that nothing

Is there anything else we need to know? Only question I have is whether or not plugging in a separate monitor will help me change the native resolution.

I know you said it wont be for gaming but the new m14x look like they should handle whatever you are going to be throwing at it.

I also remember seeing an HP laptop for a little over $1000 that was really nice. I think it was a beats edition or something along those lines.

This likes nice, should playback 1080p nice and smooth, but the scrren only supports up to 1600 x 900 which still isnt bad for a laptop.

EDIT: looks like it comes with a bunch of freebies too like more ram, a Blu ray drive, ect ect

Just thought I would double check... If I plug in an external monitor I can change the resolution right?

Check out the HP envy series:

HP envy 17

I dont really like the HP pavillions, they're terrible IMO. But they did it right with they Envys.

Heres a review. This is a review of a 3D model I think, but you can get information about the other aspects of the notebook from it.

Just talked with hp support, adding an SSD will void the warranty... I wonder why I started building my own systems?

cyberpower has an ok configuration

CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM Mobile Processor 2.00 GHz 6M Intel Smart Cache, Max Turbo Freq. 2.90 GHz
HDD: 120 GB Intel 510 2.5 inch SATA III 6.0G/S Gaming MLC Solid State Disk [+270] (Single Hard Drive)
MEMORY: 4GB (4GBx1) DDR3-1333 SODIMM Memory [-45] (Corsair or Major Brand)
MOTHERBOARD: Intel HM67 Express Chipset Mainboard
SOUND: Built-in 3D Premium Surround Sound
VIDEO: NVIDIA GTX 460M 1.5GB PCIe Video

no os and a 15 inch 1080p display (I can get an operating system for 12$ legal so... )
