I normally wouldn't bother but I have every other part (including fantastic Sapphire X800GTO2 that can be unlocked) and I hate having unused hardware so much that I even considered resurrecting my first very own socket 7 rig (but that would mean breaking into a museum so I gave up).
I'm actually from Poland so might have better luck finding these.
Not sure if it wouldn't be better to buy something more recent since I also have 2GB of DDR2 lying around, but I really love AMD since I grew up on their chips.
The DDR2 won't help you honestly. Even though its a 780G and 790X chipset motherboard, its still Socket 939. So you're still limited to DDR1 (DDR400+). The memory controller is on the CPU. Since its a 939 CPU, you're stuck with regular DDR.
And I agree. If I still had my A8N32-SLI Deluxe, SLI Ultra D, CFX3200, or A8R32-MVP Deluxe...I'd be all over it! Especially with my old Opteron that hit 3.38GHz from 1.80GHz stock, and my DDR400 sticks that did almost DDR600.
I love 939 gear if you couldn't tell. There's a link in my sig for the 939 club too.
For once you get it up and running.Edited by pioneerisloud - 5/9/11 at 3:26am
