Is Gainwards rma service legal?

Hi was just wondering wether they have the ultimate right in not accepting a rma from customer,was thinking of selling my 470 and putting the cash towards a 580 and was just curious as to what manufactuer togo with thats in uk, may not bother alot of people but it does bother me somewhat as i 4 day personla rma could turn into a 3 week private rma.

Sapphire does the same thing. Well they tell you, but you can pretty much pressure them into letting you RMA through them.

It is legal too... this is why you gotta read warranty policies before buying... while the chances are low, when something can go wrong it will

Are you speaking from experience or is most of this hearsay?

Often times, the people who are dissatisfied with something also happen to be the loudest with their feedback. That's not to say that there aren't problems with their customer service, but if they were really as shady as you claim I don't see how they could stay in business.

I'd follow Gainward's instructions. In all honesty, if the card is flat out borked, you don't have anything to lose.

As far as legal, I bet it is. If their warranty statement says this is the policy before you bought the item that is that.

Just for education. I work for a global manufacturer. We sell our items to dealers who then sell to end users. Our warranty is to the dealer, we do not take claims from the end user. If a customer were to complain I would show them the policy on our website. I would explain that we will uphold the policy since it was in place when the product was sold and not changed after the fact. I am not tryiong to confront you just give you another point of view.

I am in an industry where this is standard so this is never a question. The GPU industry is different so I can see why you are upset. My advice, don't buy from them again.

that is a terrible rma policy!! thank god gainward isn't available in the U.S (atleast to my knowledge)

any way you can try pressuring them to give you the rma?

I RECOMMEND EVGA life time warranty and it's so easy to rma a product

That is one pathetic policy, that's worth boycotting over.

Be persistent in your request of an RMA but never lose your patience/temper.

You'll likely have it solved eventually, heck, even Nvidia might say that's not right and help you out. Nvidia could cause recourse with Gainward significantly easier than you could.
