hello

i have Asus P8P67 B3 with latest bios update & intel I5 2500K.
in the bios the CPU ratio " multiplier " won't change from the default 33
but i can downclock it to 2Ghz or even 1.6Ghz if i lower the CPU ratio..
so if somebody knows what is wrong please tell me.
thank you.

Have you changed your overclocking profile to manual.

Also, can you post up a screen print of your CPU-Z

What happens when you put it under load?

Does it go to the multi you select?

Where are you changing the multi too?

AI Overclock tuner should be set to Manual. Are you using EUFI or regular BIOS?

hi guys

i installed AI suite for overclocking. it did few restarts and testing.
my speed now is 4.4Ghz but why in the EFI bios it won't change when i put the
CPU ratio to manual at 42 mulitplier ?

i'm really depressed right now. i also noticed that my older I7 860 runs much cooler at 3.5Ghz than this i5 2500K at 3.3Ghz.. why?

sorry if i caused any confusing but i need to understand how this new EFI bios
work.
thanks guys

Also, disable intel speedstep.

Also, Why did you upgrade from an i7 860??
If your old 860 runs cooler at the same speed with the same voltage it could be either.

1) Thermal paste hasn't had chance to cure/spread
2) Too much / too little paste
3) Mounted wrong.

hello again

right now the CPU is at 4.7Ghz but it idles at 1.6Ghz even when intel step speed is turned off and the power option in vista is set to performance, why?

also when i boot the PC in the post screen it shows that the CPU speed is 3.3Ghz.. this is very confusing

human nature? even if you have a river of gold you will want another. even if you own earth you will look up at the moon & you will want it too.

each year i went from Q6600 to i7 860 to I5 2500K & i admit it that even a Q6600 will do more than i ever need it for now and for the next 5+ years...but it's human nature not getting satisfied & always wanting more.
