x6 RMA

Thread Starter
So, I am RMA'ing my 1090t but I wanted to ask a few questions:
Does overclocking it void my warrantee?
If my motherboard died and took out the CPU, can they tell that?
I have 1600mhz RAM installed, the rep told me that it can cause drifting and damage the CPU. What does that mean?

I just hope they replace it. Thanks for your help!

Umm, Why are you RMAing it?

Overclocking it does void the warranty as does using anything other than the stock TIM that comes with the CPU. But no one needs to know that do they

EDIT: As for the "RAM drifting" thing.... I've never heard of it myself. If the mobo was rated for 1600 Mhz RAM then you should be able to use it. The only problem I could see is maybe, just maybe the RAM was running at a higher voltage than it needed to be, JEDEC standard's state 1.5V for DDR3 RAM but you can commonly find 1.65v modules....

without going into the long story of it, 2 different motherboard, ram and installing it into a different system, myself and the amd tech have determined that the cpu is no longer functioning. (i hope I didnt seem rude, its just a long story where the processor died in the end)

My 1055T Has been in many motherboard's and now this is it's last one where it's going to sit and die very shortly. Anyhow, I'm running my RAM just a little over 1700MHz with no damage at all, I'm confused about your story but don't you think it might be the motherboard?

@atomfix. No worries, I have already rma'd the mobo and there is no change with the new one. Maybe the first one fried the cpu. But can amd tell that? Needless to say, I've done a ton of troubleshooting and I'm pretty sure the cpu is no longer functional.

All AMD does is test to see if it works, they don't rip apart the block and look at it under the microscope and go..... Right he's overclocked it, it will cost them too much money.

If they ask if you overclocked it, say "What is overclocking"? and they might ask have you been in the BIOS "Just say (Ummmm BIOS? ) You should get your pass to a free CPU replacement

Also don't mention anything about using anything other than the stock TIM (Thermal Interface Material, ie. AS5, MX-3, Tuniq, etc.). If you read the warranty carefully it says you must use the stock TIM.
