Not JUST a HS question! [Update-got cooler, now have install ?s]

Thread Starter
I have a NZXT M59 case, and I want to start overclocking, even just a little bit. I know that I've got to keep temps down, so I guess it's time to get some cooling done. I've got some fans picked out as far as utilizing all airflow options, and I've been researching heastinks.
Here's a list of the fans. I haven't made the transaction yet. I'll check prices elsewhere, of course. I just want to know that I'm making good choices.

-Top exhaust (2x)
-Rear exhaust/side intake
-Front intake I haven't decided yet. I found some decent priced San Aces on eBay, and the way that fan is positioned I may need all that static pressure. Or I could just pick up some other random fan for cheaper. It wouldn't be visible, so matching doesn't matter unless it's LED.
-I found a really good price on a Rheobus Extreme 6 so I can keep it all under control.

Those are the ones I see best fit for my setup and budget. I'd like to stay away from regular sleeve bearings if possible. For noise, lifespan, and positioning. And I would like at least the side to be LED. Of course I'm open to suggestions, but I would like to stay within the $65ish range for the total fan budget. That's including putting new fans on the heatsink if necessary.

Another question is, of course, a CPU cooler. I really don't want to spend much more than $30 on it. Before you say CM H212+, let me say that I have recently learned that it's a bit too big for my tastes. As are most 120mm coolers. Turns out that it barely touches the front panel where the window is attached.

thanks Cha0s89

So I would like one that is less than the oh-so-common 159mm tall. I would prefer it be an upright one or one of those angled ones. I don't plan on OCing too far since I'm so new to this, and I don't have the money for a beastly cooler. At the very least I'd like 3.6GHz out of my PhII x4 840, though I'd love to hit 4.

Thanks guys.

You can always get a smaller 92mm cooler. It won't be as effective as a larger cooler, but....http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...^35-185-097-TS

Also, you will get better temps if you make the front top fan an intake feeding the cooler mounted east-west and exhausting out the rear fan. The rear top slot gets blocked off. I used duck tape.

Here's my NZXT Beta Evo, your case's kin:

Note that I have cut out the rear grill, and have no fan there. See item 2 in my sig for why.

Excellent. Thanks guys.

I've just now realised that the less I spend on fans the more I can spend on a heatsink. So if anybody has cheaper, but still just as good, recommendations on fans I can adjust the heatsink budget accordingly.

I see... That had crossed my mind, and it makes sense, but I don't want too much positive pressure. Another plus to that is that it would save me $15.

I had seen that thread before. That's very interesting, and I fell like I've learned a little. I don't want to cut on this case though, or leave too many openings. Also, since I may have to use a small heatsink I'd really like as much case airflow as I can get to keep inside temps down.

I figured it would go like (arrow size relative to fan speed)(pink=optional):

Would you rather get a H50?

Just curious! It would do a good job on your chip, keep your airflow moving well, and take away heat caused by heatsinks.

You would only need a little more money to get one and you might even find one used for very close to 40 or 50.

Those fans you picked out seem pretty decent spec wise, but I would never by either brand myself. I know your trying to stay within budget, so I am going to support your choices.

I have one more idea. How close are you to Micro Center in St. Louis? I got mine in Columbus, OH to price match NewEgg on my Scythe Slipstreams on a multi unit discount. I bought 8 of them for 8.99 each!

If you can do something like that, you could step up to a nicer blue LED fan like an Antec 25! NewEgg has a few of those on sale.

Yeah, the H50 would work. I'm just not sure it'd be in use often enough. I don't have my computer on 24/7. Just for gaming and real work; for general computing I use a laptop. I imagine the water in there being still for so long wouldn't exactly be good for it. The main reason I'm looking at keeping case temps down is to aide the (more than likely) small cooler.

Is there a particular problem with those brands? The Rosewills are on the list of recommendations. I suppose I could always check eBay and such for some others. I'd just like to know the place I'm buying from.

Both of the closest MicroCenters are about a 4hr drive, but I've been trying to plan a day trip out there with some people. The price matching is more motivation!

I have had problems with both brands products. Not these products in particular. You might be ok. I am trying to keep your budget in mind though, and there is not much of a better choice at that pricepoint.

4 hours = 1 tank of gas round trip in my Nissan Versa at about $45. Might not be a good idea afterall unless a buddy drives :-)

I see. You're right. I've been checking some of the other websites and it's all pretty much the same or worse.
Hah, yeah the trip definitely wouldn't be worth the tradeoff unless someone else is driving. Especially just for a couple fans and a heatsink. Shipping is mmuucchh more cost effective.

I still haven't made a solid choice on that front fan; if I can find a strong one cheaper than $17.15 (shipping included) then I can add the savings onto the heatsink budget. So far I've got approximately $45 max(I mean it, no fudging just a little bit more w/o having to wait 2 weeks for a paycheck) to Spend on a heatsink and fans to go on it, decent ones. Significantly shorter than 159mm too, don't forget. H50 could work if I know that I'm not going to break it anytime soon based on my usage scenario [refer to my last post].*

*Feel free to tell me I have nothing to worry about or tell my why I should worry.

Edit: For 140s I also came up with this and this. I honestly don't know too much about either of the 3 brands, I've just seen the 'Shark' fan on here a time or two.
I don't need jet engine airflow up top, those are really just to pull the air up from the intakes below. Of course I could also just do the 1 as an intake thing; though I seriously need to get board temps down. I'll experiment with both unless I see some real numbers swaying me one way or the other.

After seeing your proposed airflow diagram, I would suggest not using that front top fan. All it will do is vent cool air from the intake fans before they even reach any of your components. Here are two ways of doing it:
