Tough to tell, though I doubt Coreboot will really change any ones mind. It has been on Asus boards for years and hasn't really been a big deal.

Um, please tell me why Intel is soaking all the limelight up about 3d transistors when they were made (discovered/engineered/insert your favorite word here) 4 years ago? It was news then, just Intel now is making processors with said tech. rolleyes.gif

Development and consumer level implementation are 2 very different things.

I realize that but Intel seems to be taking all the credit. If one reads up on 3d transistors it is only a modification of the manufacturing process to have 3d transistors for CPU manufacturing. So I stand by what I said.

Exactly.

Also Intel didn't announce "we created the idea" they announced "we have it, and we have working silicon of it".

That is why patents require that the item's manufacture can be accounted for, because it is the implementation part that is hard.

Why shouldn't they? Intel is bringing it to the consumer market.

Everyone is lauding Intel's "progress" and giving them the credit. All Intel did was modify the lithography process. Due credit should be shown when posters say or mis-quote subjects and give credit to the wrong company/person.

Obviously yes IME should get credit for the tech as well (after all they did develop it) BUT if no company can bring it to consumer level products its pointless to us. The modification to the process cant be that easy because otherwise GF would have jumped on this as well.

Well, GF might be in the process of licensing it, or even testing it, nobody knows. It will be interesting to see when and/or if AMD goes this route.
