[TFTC] Dell to Release UltraSharp Replacements - U2412HM, U2312HM and U2212HM - Page 4

At 1920x1080 in 24", isn't Dell now into the RegularSharp range? I thought it used to be cramming more pixels into a smaller size than most other companies was a key component for being an UltraSharp. Apparently I was mistaken.

Pretty sure it was always just marketing

As someone with three Dell 24" monitors sat in front of him, I'll say I won't be buying anything that isn't 16:10. I still wish you could buy non-widescreen panels. For 99% of my use, the widescreen size isn't useful at all.

One of mine is the non-HC model. It's a great monitor, apart from the silly power button which has broken on two of mine (spins and only turns on when you press it while it's pointing up, meaning you have to spin it to point up before turning it on).

You can get the 2007FP. It's a 20" 4:3 IPS monitor, and runs at 1600x1200 (basically the equivalent of a 23" 1920x1200 with the sides cut off). I have two of them, they match up perfectly with the U3011 when in portrait orientation. Just be careful if you buy them used, you want to make sure that the serial number ends with "L" (LG IPS panel), and not "S" (Samsung PVA panel).

Looks like I'm gonna have to get 3 x U2711 for my Surround setup instead of 3 x U2410......that's gonna hit the wallet

As long they price it right, I think it's good. Make the 23" version $249 and I'm sold. 1680x1050 is starting to get a little long in the tooth.

Also, it's 1920x1080, not 1080p. "p" stands for progressive (as opposed to "i", interlaced) and it has nothing to do with pc monitors and such.

Goodies. I've been dying for a replacement. LG released their IPS monitors (all LED backlit. 2 or something were really slim) and I expected Dell to do something. Anyways, better late than never.
