This, I set 1.5v in my BIOS and CPUz says I've got 1.6v, AMD overdrive says 1.5v though.

Depends entirely on the process type, Intel 45nm can do 1.45 max, AMD 45nm can take 1.55v like a champ though.

Actually, SuperPi runs x87 (FP) code, BD has 4 modules with two integer pipelines counted as cores to the OS and one FP that can split into two as necessary, so its practically 4 cores vs 4 cores.

And anyway, it only uses one core.

...surely thats like taking a puppy out back and sticking a bullet in it, because its past its prime already?!

Does the 9 series chipset support DDR4 already??
1) DDR4 will only be worth getting by the time AMD has new chips out anyway.
2) The chipset means nothing, the CPU does for RAM support.

It's not Intel optimized, it's just that AMD hasn't had as fast FP performance as Intel until now. (If this is real)
And with the RAM thing, the specs will be at least going to the people it matters to, they'll know the rough specs for accessing the memorys specs, etc.

How does that prove it's fake? All it does is prove he works at Gigabyte...

Inlet has 256bit bandwidth for it's FP units when a program is coded for AVX, but can only do 1x128bit because there is only one FP unit per core. So if super PI is not coded to take advantage of AVX then I can understand why BD is way ahead. I really wonder if the advantage still holds for more integer based workloads.
SuperPi is coded for x87, doesn't use MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4, etc.
That and it being single core is why it's (IMO) useless, nearly nothing uses x87 these days.

phenom II super pi 1m was in the 14second range right???

and now its in the 7second range ... wich is just amazing ....

That couldn't be due to Phenom II being an updated Athlon64, which was an updated and tweaked Athlon? (The chip that took AMD to 1Ghz)

Just can't get my head round that. AMD are good but they're not that good.

I'll admit I've been scouring that picture for the past half hour for more imperfections, but there are none as of yet.
If memory serves they've done it before, from K5 to K6.

They have been biased against AMD CPUs in the past, especailly when the P4 was out iirc.

A lot of AMD users have reasonable expectations. However, that doesn't mean we can't hope that BD is groundbreaking. Don't confuse expectation and hope. Most of the absurd expectations come from Intel users trying to raise the bar.
I expect it to be around SBs performance, maybe a little lower, maybe a bit higher depending on the application, like the Core 2 Quads vs Phenom II.

If this is real, great, it means it can run old code well.

Photoshop. Definitely fake. If the 2.8Ghz clock speed with a 95W. TDP is true, that is awesome for it being an 8 core. The new AMD CPU logo is cool too.

That's many many years away from the market. As real and as exciting as this sounds, this could quite definitely be fake!

If this is true though (SuperPi of Bulldozer 3.8Ghz beating i7 2600k 4.5Ghz - superpi is single threated and highly intel optimized), in other more suitable benchmarks we may be seeing 3x the clock-for-clock performance of Sandy Bridge! This is marvellous

Another point I'd like to make: if the FX-8110 can provide 3.8Ghz turbo, then the FX-8130P can provide way more. Just as I predicted - stock speeds (via turbo boost) well into the 4Ghz speeds!
2.8Ghz clock with a 3.8Ghz Turbo Core? Why not 3Ghz with a 4.0Ghz Turbo?
