Getting my 360 to run on my monitor

I like my xbox 360 for playing halo reach but I have to use my crappy tv. I want to be able to run my xbox on my 1080p monitor but I don't want to pay $40 for the xbox converter cables. Are there any other converters out there that will allow the xbox to run in hd? I found some basic component cable to dvi kits but I don't know if it would allow hd.

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/GTMax-Adapter-S-Video-Component-Female/dp/B004T5UOXK"]Amazon.com: GTMax VGA Adapter to TV 4pin S-Video RCA Out Cable + 3 RCA Component to DVI Male Female Adapter for PC Video: Electronics[/ame] what I was looking at buying.

The cord that is compoent to dvi will be a form of hd called interlace not as good as hdmi to to dvi. so basically it will be 1080i not 1080p.

You're going to want the straight VGA one from Microsoft. The cable is very good quality, from the same manufacturer, and includes a female RCA to male stereo 3.5mm adapter for PC audio. Sure it's a little on the expensive side, but it's well worth it.

This, just use the Microsoft one. You can maybe find a used one at a gamestop for $10.

I found one at Gamstop years ago. Well worth the $10 and I haven't played on my TV since. Playing on a monitor is the way to go.

I run the VGA cable from my Xbox into my rig's monitor. Definately worth getting.

Regardless, running 1080 on a VGA connection isn't going to be pretty. There's going to be a bit of pixel shakage going on.

I don't even know if my monitor has a vga connection so I would be using an adapter too, I was curious about that myself as I didn't think VGA went up to 1080p.

I wasn't aware the 360 outputted at 1080p in the first place.

I played Halo Reach on my monitor for some time before growing bored of consoles once again. It looked fine. I used a HDMI to DVI adapter for video and took the casing off the component cable for sound into my speakers.

VGA will go to 1080p and higher. It all depends on the source and display.

It always output in 1080i, and that's why the elite came out - people wanted 1080p. Now, all the 360s have HDMI ports.

The 360 doesn't render much in 1080p though.
