Quad SLI?

is it really necessary? i mean i get how it combines all the cards into one but what performance difference dose it make?
It's about double the performance of two cards, so about 3.4x the performance of 1 card.

At least, that's what Vega's 3GB 580s showed.

but dose it make a big impact on gaming performance honestly?
Depends on your setup, resolution, 3d etc etc. But in any case not really worth it to get the 4th one, it's barely used.

Its all about what you do, what settings you play at, and what games you play.

Leaving a thread so open won't get you much information, it would be best to ask:

Hey I like to benchmark on HWBot, will Quad-SLI help me?
Yes

Hey I have a 1920x1080@60Hz monitor, should I go Quad-SLI?
Nope, don't think so.

Hey I have 3x 1920x1080@60~75Hz, would Quad-SLI be good for this?
Absolutely.

I have a 1920x1080@120Hz monitor, now I like to play above 120 fps, or in 3D. Do I need Quad-SLI?
Nah, you can probably pull almost every game off at 120+fps with Tri-SLI.

I have a 2560x1600@60Hz monitor, and I like to play @ 60fps, do I need Q-SLI?
Difficult question, most games will strugle a bit on a single card, still struggle in select games with two cards, starts running smoother and consistently with 3 cards, and with the 4th, you would be running even faster, and future proofing yourself against future titles.

I like to fold, will F@H use all 4 GPUs?
Yeah, and cure cancer by next Tuesday.

I like to BOINC, will Boinc Manager use all 4 GPUs?
All day, everyday.

Will quad-SLI run Crysis?
Yes, faster than SLI, which is about 60 fps @ 1920x1080.

Then you would probably benefit from Quad-SLI more than anybody. You will have some games just not running too hot in Tri-Sli.

Iceman provided no proof that they don't use the 4 GPU.
