ok so everyone listen (:

i had 7 ultimate 32bit and my black ops ran like crap EVEN with all settings on low
I ALWAYS had lag spikes whenver there was a lot of action going on!
SO i upgraded to direct x 11, flashed my 6950 to 6970, went to 7 ultimate 64bit AND i am STILL getting crappy ass lag spikes whenever there is a lot of action going on...

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE just help me fix this... because people with weaker systems are running this just fine and im not...

can it be my monitor? my graphics? my cpu? what? anything? please just help me run this game.. im sick and tired of putting money into my computer and it cant even run a damn game...

EDIT:**** THESE ARE LAG SPIKES NOT INTERNET SPIKES BECAUSE ip usually stays at 60 (average 80 or lower)

Are any of your other games having issues? Are your GPU drivers up to date?

Have you tried running it in DX9? I think I also remember reading that in XP, people were able to run it fine with no spikes while in Vista/7, some people are getting these spikes while others aren't. Make sure you have the latest updates and driver updates as well. Hopefully, one of these fixes the issue you're having. GL

Are you talking graphical lag or internet lag? They are two separate things and don't affect each other.

I'd just try reinstalling the game and the GPU drivers one last time. Because judging from your sig rig everything should be running flawlessly.

I had this problem too. The reson your runing like crap is most likely because they removed the 15x AA setting on a update and your still trying to run it.

This is how to fix that problem.

Go to C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\call of duty black ops\\players

Then delete files named "config" and "config_mp"

After that, open steam then right click CoD:BO multiplayer, click properties, local files, then click validate the game.

After that is finished, start the game and configure your settings to what you want.

The problem should be fixed now. If its still messing up I'm not sure why. Hope this helps.

1) Black Ops is a DX9 game, it will not run in DX11; so that is irrelevant.
2) The version of Windows that you are using should have absolutely no impact on game performance; so that is irrelevant.

It sounds like there is an issue with the config file... delete you Black Ops config file in your Steam folder and let the game create a new one from scratch (it does this automatically when you launch the game if a config file is not found). Sometimes, even on a fresh install, the default config file is created with errors and causes extreme performance issues.
