OC AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 620

Thread Starter
Im new to this, watched all the noob videos on youtube.

Just wondering, i only want to up my current 2.6Ghz to 3Ghz
would i need to change voltage for this?
Also what progammes are best to use. Ive seen a lot of different ones
on a number of videos and wonder whats best/You guys use.
its at x13 currently (With 200bus) and to get to what im looking for 230 seems close enough. Would you suggest a jump straight from 200 - 230
Or 15 at a time.

Thanks in Advance.
Nathaniel.

*Edit: Any other changes needed before i do this?

What is your PSU ?
You should go straight to 230 and see if it's stable.
If not just bump the Vcore.

Cool thanks.
It has a total output of 450w
What programmes do you use to check Stability?

It should get there no problem, I got mine to 3.0Ghz, on stock voltage and cooling just fine. You just have to increase the voltage to pass 3.0. Try Prime95 for your stability test. I normally let it go for a few hours and see if it fails.

Did you give it a try at 230? If not, check the guide for OC'ing the Phenom II in my sig for a detailed walk through. Just to verify, because its not clear, are you Overclocking through the bios or some third party junk wear that allows you to OC from windows? I would uninstall that if that is the method and go into the bios to make changes.

Like Olepolecat said, once the oc is reached and you boot into win, use prime 95 to test stability. ITB(intel burn test) works well too, but Prime is generally the end all.
