INTRO

I've spent long enough air cooling my rigs, now I'm taking the dive in to the realms of water cooling and what better place to start than with a Silverstone TJ07! Ordered my first parts today; case, drive bay, fans, fan controller and rads. Mostly to get a general idea of what it will look like in person. I'd have bought the tubing at the same time but.. well see below.

I'm doing this work log for a couple of reasons, I suppose I've been completely inspired after watching some amazing builds come together in other logs. I'd love to get input and opinions (and maybe some help!) from the community here at OCN, and I simply want a reason to document my project.

I intend on going all out on this build (within my limited modding abilities at least!).

Fans, drive bay and FC5 arrived!

Love the brushed finish, even more excited about the case itself now!

More brushed aluminum finish. I can change the LCD colour to red too. It's like it was made for me.

9 SickleFlow fans with red LED. From what I've seen the LEDs aren't that bright; just enough to reflect off the blades for a nice effect. I haven't had a chance to try them out myself yet though, so we'll see. I already replaced the stock drive bay fan with the 10th.

I'm told the case arrived to be powder coated earlier today. I've chosen a matte black finish for the internals and backplate (which I may be replacing anyway, see below...) It should be in my hands next wednesday.

I think I may have also procured possibly the last new non replica murdermod serpentine backplate in existence! Already powdercoated black too. Waiting to hear back now.

Forgive the bad photo quality, I'm using my phone. I'll have my camera back by time the case gets here so expect less fuzziness next time

I think you did. They are like gold dust. Well played.

You'll enjoy working with the TJ07, I know I did. I have my interior Satin Black, it's a great look, if you can get some Matte tubing to go with it, I will literally loose it.

Subbed!

Bingo.

Can't find this stuff anywhere in the UK period. Maybe my google-fu is weak or something but there we have it. Anyone bought from Petra's Tech Shop before? There's a few bad reviews on the net, probably nothing, just want to be safe!

Going to have to figure out a way to hide the writing...

The roof is modded and the top drive bays are cut out to accomodate a 120.3 radiator in the top. I dont really have the time or skill to confidently do it myself without worrying about messing it up. The roof mod for the 360 rad is done by specialtech. I'll be starting slightly smaller - some cable management holes in the motherboard tray will be my first time cutting.

Murdermod serpentine backplate confirmed! Very happy right now

Quick update.

My Black Ice GTX 480 is apparently out of stock, gonna have to wait for my next big order to get one now. Probably next Friday.

I'm now considering getting a clean black brushed aluminum midplate with the build logo laser cut in to it, and by considering I mean already married to the idea. Would be nice to get rid of those awful stock cable management holes and replace them with a couple of clean tubing holes & connecting fittings.

ALSO...

Been talking to Charles at murderMod for a couple of days now and he's just told me there's something very.. special.. about the backplate I'll be receiving in the post soon.

If you like murderMod stay tuned

After enquiring about their backplate and being told that, amazingly, they had one left. A standard ATX powder coated black. Perfect. Arranged the price and shipping cost. About to pay.. and I get this email;

Quote:
I just want to mention that this is actually our new V2.0 backplate (it's actually my Standard ATX prototype). This new version has a few changes from the original. For one, there's no word "murderMod" - just the "blood drip" logo lines which blend into the serpentine lines. The murderMod was removed because it was driving me nuts seeing it written backwards from the inside. The other changes are that its .5mm thicker and the rivet holes are countersunk (black countersunk rivets are included).

This V2.0 backplate is what we'll be offering when we reopen murderMod. You're the first person to get one
It arrived today. So for those of you interested, and I post this with complete permission from Charles, here's what their new backplate will look like.

My case powdercoating has been delayed. New ETA is Monday/Tuesday next week.
