How To: Setup Dual Monitors and have 2 different wallpapers using ''UltraMon''

Hi there people of Overclock.net. This following FAQ will show you how to setup Dual monitor display and how to use a program called ''Ultrmon'' to enable you to have seperate wallpapers on each monitor and more.

Here is what you will need to carry out this task:

1x Graphics card with 2 Monitor outputs ( VGA/DVI ).
2x Monitors ( CRT or TFT ).
1x VGA to DVI adapter ( Optional ) Only needed when both screens are VGA as there is only 1X VGA port on the Graphics card.

Setting up your 2 Monitors:

Now once you have what you need to carry out the task you now need to connect both of your monitors to the Graphic card outputs.

1.One Monitor Will plug into the VGA port ( Blue port ) on the back of your Graphics card.

2.The other monitor will plug into the DVI port ( White Port ). Now if your monitor is already a DVI monitor then the VGA to DVI adapter is not needed. However if you have a VGA monitor you will need the VGA to DVI adapter to plug into the DVI port on the back of your Graphics card.

Now that you have the monitors connected properly to your Graphics card we now need to set up the Monitors within Windows so that they both function at the same time.

Enabling 2 Monitors in Windows:

I will now show you how this is accomplished.

Once within Windows go to ''Control panel'' and then ''Display''. Once in ''Display'' go to the ''Settings'' tab. Should look like this below.

Now from here click on ''Screen 2''. You will now be presented with the Window shown below.

In this Window ( Shown above ) You will see a check box called '' Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor'' you want to put a ''Tick'' into this box and now click ''Apply''. Your second screen should now activate showing you the same wallpaper image as your Primary screen or just a plain image.

Now once you have done this I will now show you how to implement a different Wallpaper to each of your monitors using a program called ''UltraMon'' .

You can download ''UltraMon'' here :http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/
The ''UltraMon'' is a 30 Day trial unless a code is entered.

Once you have downloaded and installed ''UltraMon'' you should notice a little ''UltraMon'' icon in your '''System tray''. On this icon ''Right click'' on it and select ''Wallpaper''.

You should now be presented with the screen below:

Now that you are on this screen you will notice a ''Radar Button'' ( Check box ) named ''A different background/Image for each monitor''. This ''Radar button'' ( Chech box ) needs to be selected and then click ''Apply''. This is so that you can have a different wallpaper on each Monitor.

Now you are ready to implement your Wallpapers to each of your monitors.

To do this click on the button named ''New wallpaper'' this will now setup a new wallpaper profile. Now click on the ''Monitor'' you want to implement a wallpaper to and then click ''Browse'' to search for the image you wish to use. When you have found your image click ''Apply'' Now that ''Monitor'' should show your Image that you have just selected.

To do this to the other ''Monitor'' repeat the previous step.

It is that simple.

There's a typo, you wrote 3x VGA to DVI adapters. Isn't it supposed to be 1x?

Well when people dont own such cards that have the Control panels then this is a way to do it through Windows itself....Doing it through Windows is actually better becasue when you uninstall an ATI or Nvidia driver then you will lose your setup Config and will have to start from scratch.

Theres the answere to your ''WHY''
