[BGR] Previous-generation iPhone 3GS, iPad still outsell new Android devices, analyst - Page 7

I just don't see how it can be said that for quality and/or niche apps android has traction or parity over ios.

paramount just released this for free... its a vintage look film processor for your ios video. does android have an equivalant?

And there's multiple credit card transaction enablers on ios. Square lets any ios device be a mobile cc station.

I'm sorry for the anecdotal nature of much of this, but the hard numbers is apple accounted for more that 85 % of total app revenue for 2010. Android didn't beat blackberry or nokia.

Too bad no other linux based system has taken hold.

Google is the evil empire as far as their actions and business model. Remember youre not Googles' customer youre their product.

I'm not too concerned about who uses what mobile OS, please don't take this as a knock against iOS or a defense of Android, just some facts as I know them. There are a bunch of apps, paid and free, that will apply almost any effect you can think of to images, many of them realtime. Oh, and square is on Android too. The app store argument is silly, it really is. Each store as it's +'s and -'s, but they are pretty much equal and for the most part if the exact same program isn't on both then there are plenty of apps for either OS that do the same thing and just as well.

I use Android because I like custom ROMs, I love the hacker/dev scene around Android and the stuff they can do amazes me. I like flashing new ROMs every few weeks, I'm not too familiar with iOS hacking but I don't think there's that kind of ROM community. Again, that's my opinion and preference.

NOBODY CARES.

Honestly, why is this being posted in the forum? It's flame bait. Both Android devices and iOS devices are neat. Nobody wants a thread with "one phone is better in one segment/category/market" posted in these forums. It's straight up 100% trolling.

Microsoft's Photosynth app is amazing!

I would be shocked if android had 1/6th of the great music apps that ios has. Multitrack recorders with hardware support for guitars, line in, pro quality mics. Multitasking that lets you sync separate apps with midi clock! An app like bebot was around for ios years before ported to android.*

*actually it was never ported apparently absolutely android has reviews for iphone apps.

I suspect its like this thoroughout the small screen app world, most niches will be and are better covered by ios...

Once you get into tablets... with all the magazine publishers seemingly appreciating the ability to actually publish and get paid on the ios.. it seems all the paid content will be for ipad. conde nast, ny times, spin, rolling stone etc.

Although WSJ app would be freaking nice, but you can't fix stupid. One little dev I know is spitting out high quality apps for Honeycomb, but multi million dollar corporations can't get their **** together.

Vimeo... depends, if you are talking about Vimeo app with the ability to watch and edit videos. No, but we have been watching Vimeo for nearly a year, not a month.

I don't know about others, but with the Verizon Android phones, yes Crackle is on Android with the VCast app.

Killer feature! No.

Pretty cool though I'll admit.

Square is on Android.

For how old the iPhone 3GS is, it's still a hell of a smartphone.
