but I was so desperate for a comp to run SC2 in decent settings. I'm playing SC2 at a semi-pro level, I need the best possible FPS I can get for a decent price... x_X

If you just get a 5670 or a 5770, you'll be running SC2 maxed out with an FPS of 50 or more.

What kind of mobo do you have? If you can upgrade CPU, I really think you'd see a bigger benefit than if you went with an overkill GPU.

People don't realize that SC2 is not at all GPU dependant. I get avg 30-40 gpu usage I play on my 4890.

You are playing on a 4890! Hes on an old integrated gpu

Yes its CPU bound, but his graphics are holding him back currently.

That being said, what resolution are you playing @ OP?

Man I bought that 4890 2 years ago and it was a mid tier card back then. It's nothing special.

Minimum requirement for SC2 GPU wise is a 6600, I believe.

I still think he doesn't need a GPU as much as a CPU for SC2...

SC2 is heavely cpu dependend, but really his integrated graphics is bottlenecking him not the cpu. @ the op see if you can find an used 5770, they sell pretty cheap.
@doritos just do the test yourself and connect your monitor to your onboard graphics, have fun running SC2 wink.gif

He needs a graphics card.
'nuff said.
Even though SC2 is partial to CPU speed, his integrated is absolute crap.
Seriously you can't even play CODMW2 decently unless it's at the absolute bare settings.
I know cause I used to have to exact same one tongue.gif

I hate to say it, but you should've done some research before buying that computer.

Okay, so I ended up buying a low profiled Radeon HD5570, 1GB to upgrade from my NVIDIA Geforce 6150SE. O M G the performance now, is outstanding!
I can now run SC2 in ultra w/ a steady 35-40 FPS!!! and lower settings like high and medium w/ 80-100fps.

Before, with my old GFX. I could barely manage 15-20 fps on 680x400 running in windows 98 mode on lowest settings. Thank you guys so much, the GFX improvement was huge !
