CPU temp after overclocking/COOLING SYSTEM

Thread Starter
I have OC'd my CPU from 2.6 to 2.8Ghz, by upping th bus from 200 to
218 with x at 13
My core heat seems to sit at about 40-45 and whilst gaming has risen to
a max of 70. I'm starting to think i may need a new cooling system. If
you guys agree what would be good for my system, i currently have the 2 stock fans installed.
Here are my specs:
AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 620 Processor
CPU SPEED: 2.6 GHz
RAM: 4.0 GB
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition (build 7600), 64-bit
ATI Radeon HD 5670
Video RAM 2.2 GB
Hardware T&L Yes
Pixel Shader version 5.0
Vertex Shader version 5.0
Free disk space: 242.5 GB

Any help will be appreciated.

Well...

Are you using the stock cooler? That's a big no-no when OC'ing. 70c on load? Those temps are really scary! I got the Xigmatek Dark Knight for my 965 and I max around 55c when gaming (GTA IV) Anything close to 60c and I would start freaking out (which only happens when I'm doing OCCT). It's not the best heatsink and its alittle outdated, but I got it for $30 so it was great bang for the buck.

You talk about the two stocks fans, and I'm assuming there's one front intake and one rear exhaust. You shouldn't worry about adding more fans, but think about replacing them with Scythe's or Noctua's to push/pull more air

OR...you could always move to water cooling, but I don't have any experience with that, and probably someone here would be glad to help you.

First, you should list all your systems specs by going to the user control panel. We all need more info on these to be able to help you better.

If your using stock voltage the temps you've listed lead me to believe you'd need to re-seat your cpu cooler as they are right at the max for a stock 620.

Without knowing what cpu cooler, case or fans you have I can only assume they're budget minded and in need of replacing. As dHAPPY mentioned you should not attempt OCing with a stock cooler especially with limited case air flow.
Please add you rig sig so we can assist you more!

Sorry about the time its taken to reply, I live in england and am now on my way to work, i will add my rig sig when i get home. I have also moved my bus back down to 200 with x13 and my temps seem to have leveled off, i thought the temp would not be greatly effected as didnt change the Cvoltage. (Hench the odd number of 218, highest I could go without doing so) And thought this would conpensate for the lack of fans.

Thanks for all your help so far and i'll be back on 7pm (UK)
