Need Opinions on Possible Build

Thread Starter
Hey everyone

I'm looking to build a new computer this summer and just want to get some feedback on a sandybridge build before I order. It's going to primarily be used for gaming and i've got an OS, mouse, optical drive and keyboard, but I think i'm going to get a new monitor.
So heres what I've come up with:
case: Corsair 600T -$150
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811139003

GPU: Evga 580 gtx- $480
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130587

PSU: Rosewill Lightning 1000w -$190
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817182239

Memory: 4 gb GSkill Ripjaw X 1600 cas 7 $60
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231430

Motherboard:Asrock Extreme4 $160
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157229

CPU: 2500k 180 Microcenter

CPU Cooler: Antec h2o 920 -$120
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157229

Harddrive: Samsung f3 1tb $60
SSD Corsair c300 128gb $237

I'm looking at
Acer 23in backlight led $160 for a monitor
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824009255

total - 1617 with rebates

Tell me what you think. I think I may also sli eventually when i upgrade to a nvidia surround system.

I was also debating whether to get the 600T special edition instead, and switching the PSU to the corsair AX850 but I really like the look of the lightning and it gives me a little bit more wiggle room. I'm not sure if I should pick up a 6970 instead and just downgrade the psu along with it.

Looks great to me but just want a second opinion.

looks like a good build set up! many will tell you to get a better quality psu, though i have never had issues with rosewill (in fact, i find that they are super reliable). You could easily go with a corsair 850 or a psu like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-028-_-Product

Also, It really depends on if you want to have a white 600t with a side window. I think the special edition looks pretty awesome, but thats just me.
Good luck!

The PSU is over kill, even for 2 GTX 580's a good 850w will be more than enough.

If you really want that 600T case, tigerdirect has it with it Free shipping.

Everything else looks good to me.

hey joe, I actually just ordered a lot of the same parts you're considering. haha. specifically I bought the 600t special edition. I don't know when you planned on buying but my 600t should get here in a couple of days, I could give you my impressions when it does as well as some pics.

Also if you're buying from newegg I would highly recommend combing through the combo deals of the each of the items. a lot of the time items you want will be in a combo deal or it'll be comparable to one of the items you're looking at. Like if you look at the combo deals for the 600t; I see that you can pair it with a 1000w corsair psu and get a $30 discount. OR if do go with the 850AX, it also pairs with the 600t and you get a $30 discount. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.639289

anyway good luck.

That PSU is definitely overkill.

You can easily power two 580s with a 750W Antec TPN (which goes for $110 IIRC). That $80 difference could be put to better use, like more storage space or RAM.

Yea, I don't think you need 1000W.
You'll need it if you're doing some crazy quad SLI/CF build.

750W is the most flexible power for you because it gives you the option to SLI/CF later on without shortening out.

Try this one: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...seasonic%20750
