PSU dead?

Thread Starter
Okay.
Just got the rest of my build about an hour ago.

So I have an Asus P5G41T-M LX
2 x 4GB DDR3 Ripjaw
Dual-core Intel CPU 2.7GHz (Coolermaster V6GT After Market Cooling)
A 3GB Nvidia GFX card
And a Micro-Atx Case

The PSU is an 'Aywun 3000 420W'.

I've hooked it all up accordingly.
The problem is despite me inserting the Power cable into the PSU, no lights appear on the MOBO, and alas, the power button on the case has no effect.
Keeping in mind that the PSU does not have an I-O rocker switch.

I am sure I've connected everything Correctly. I have in depth knowledge about building PC's but have never really built a PC with an Asus Motherboard or even an 'Aywun' PSU.

So is there anything you guys can think of that I could try?
I'm hoping either it's misjudged connections as in my error, or the PSU is faulty/dead.

I'm hoping it's not the MOBO. Cause it took a while to ship and I bought it through a third-party company and I'm not sure how the Warranty situation works with them.

Any help would be great
Thanks

If the fan on the PSU is not turning on then it is most likely the power supply.

I'm guessing this is your power supply?:http://www.expresspcparts.com.au/Ite...20SATA%20PCI-E

If you're on a budget, then I would pick up either the 430 or 500W V2 Corsair builder series. The 430W goes for $29.99 after MIR and the 500W is only ~$15 more after MIR

As far as I can tell the Aywun is low end crap, both the one in your post and the one in your sig. They peak rate the units and technical data is sparse.

Where do you live?

The motherboard could be grounding to your case. You can try connecting your hardware outside of the case on a static shield bag on your desk to rule out a grounding issue.

Yeah I figured that.
As I plug in the power cable into the PSU there is static noise, but the fan does not turn.

So PSU then?

Most likely the PSU. Can you try the PSU on another system?

Not really. There's two PC's in this house that can use it but one's locked in a room and the other is my flatmates.

Yup that's the one.
Yeah if it is definitely the PSU (which we have already discovered) then I will consider getting either the 500W for 15 extra or a Corsair PSU.
