If you want to broadcast I personally feel you need at least 2 Mbps anything less would be cutting it close in terms of getting stutters and such. 1.5 Mbps is cutting it real close so I say go for 2 Mbps.

Road Runner, eh? Good luck with that, they probably going to increase it. RR across the board, while their download speeds are not bad, their upload speeds are always stupidly low, but most people don't understand the value of or don't make use of the upload...

I'd say your only shot is if there is DOCSIS 3.0 in your area, but then they'll only offer you a higher tier with a heavier bill.

Whether you'll need a faster upload speed, however, completely depends on the resolution you hope to stream at. If it's a sub HD and/or compressed video, you should be fine with the speed you have, as long as you aren't sending any other information out. Non-compressed HD video will probably definitely be a problem, but for things like Justin.tv you won't have that as an option I don't believe.

Personally, I think you'll be good with what you have, but if somehow you could get 1mb, that would probably be the ideal minimum.

Or you can join me at NC State University...
