ATI driver problem with mint 10 64bit - Page 2

I'm not sure, maybe something is "broke". I don't play with anything built off Debian, if I wanted that I'd just use Debian.

If you want to manually install the drivers, then you'll need to have a minimal development environment on the system. On Ubuntu you would install the build-essential and linux-headers-generic packages. If Mint hasn't renamed them, that should work for you too.

need a C compiler like gcc and stuff dont ya? some distros dont ship with it these days i have no idea why....

i never really had problems with the nvidia drivers :/

have you tried both the .run file from nvidia and the driver from the package manager?

Yes, I put my old 7900GS, everything installed without a problem. I would much rather try to use my 5770 though, since my 7900 is so old, and the fan is beginning to go out on it.

I guess this could be a sign that I should just pick up a 560 already.
