I am not sure if this is common knolledge to people as to why but i have noticed that on AIR that Intel chips seem to overclock a lot more then a AMD can. Is it just because they cost more and are better quality? i tried googling it so please dont flame my question. thanks guys!

Short answer: Architectural differences allow for higher clock scaling. Has nothing to do w/ quality, just design/capabilities.

their about the same really.

i mean the x58 and am3, their pretty close ( from i know ocing wise, both hit about 4ghz some higher some lower )

and SB are newer design ect. so they can oc further then the last.. chipset ect.
find out when bulldozer ect comes out and then see wat happens x)

As above.

It's also about the "size" of the cpu, Sandy Bridge is 32nm (current Phenoms, which I presume you're comparing them to are 45nm), Bulldozer will be the same (32nm), they should overclock similar, wait till then.

Hopefully bulldozer with 32nm can bring us up to 5ghz like our intel companions.
