Activision has given the strongest hint yet that this year's Call of Duty release will offer users new paid for online experiences as the company looks to better monetise its monster FPS franchise.

Central to these plans is new digital-focused Call of Duty studio Beachhead, which Activision says will play a key role in delivering an "unprecedented online universe" alongside 2011's CoD game.

Eugh, yet more income for a dead-end developer...Once the CoD fad (Like the GH one, of which I was a fan) pops, where will Activisions money come from? WoW?

Not really surprising, Activision's audience seems to be much larger than any other developers and much more casual, I can see them making significant profit on this. Also what is the GH fad?

FPS is the biggest genre around today...And BF3 is shaping up to be really good, it's like how RB1 wasn't much better than GH for a while (BC2 in this case) and RB2 was epic simply because of the DLC and bugfixes. (BF3 in this case)

Better monetize? Already charging up 60 bucks per game and another 30 bucks for DLC, and they want to better monetize the game? What the hell?

<3 65daysofstatic... but they have less universal appeal than Bieber. Some of their stuff is really generic.

That's the point. Universal appeal is usually for the masses and not for those with any kind of discernible taste.
