[CVG]Activision talks Call of Duty 2011 online 'monetisation' plans - Page 14

I would really have to like a game to even remotely consider a pay to play server system on PC. And while it might work on Xbox, I don't like the idea of a P2P FPS on PC after playing MW2. There was far to much hacking and general asshattery with no way to kick the offenders.

Concerning Xbox, if pay to play is the ultimate goal of Activision-Kotick(speculative, but seems to be the general consensus, including myself, in the thread), how or why would Microsoft(or Sony for that matter) allow another layer to be implemented on top of XBL or the Xbox hardware in general? It seems to be a huge stumbling block for this idea, unless the profits would be shared......that sounds like two fat kids eyeing the same ice cream cone....lol.

Whoever said that the lack of innovation from the competitors keeps COD in its throne,
what? COD LACKS any innovation, its just people know nothing about other FPS out there. COD lost all innovation and creativity long time ago.

Anyway, MARKETING, MARKETING MARKETING. Look at some of today very successful companies. What do you notice about them? MARKETING.
At this age, all you need is a proper marketing team and you can hype up a shoelace, and people would buy it for $50.

Good hopefully all the oblivious little kids get their parents to buy this for them. Then maybe they can throw some money into making a new engine.
