hmmm. i see two i7's here both with 580s one scored a 50 the other around 70. i guess the benchmark on this game can't be relied upon. so, long as we can play it, right?

Maybe people are using different settings, benchmarks are impossible to compare when the baseline for settings are not established.

This game is very heavy on CPU in my opinion. It's an RTS game and there's a lot of individual characters in it so the CPU has to calculate everything.

This benchmark has been proven to be accurate and repeatable. Check around other tech sites, it is a favorite because it is a scripted benchmark that is 100% repeatable and @ the 1080p benchmark settings really kicks the heck out of even uber-high end rigs. A good provably fraudulent way to fudge this benchmark would be to run at other than the intended benchmark settings and then slide the results window over the DOS window that shows the benchmark settings. rolleyes.gif

Here is an example of this type of fakery, and then a failed attempt at photoshopping two different benchmark pages together. The person who forged this benchmark then caused a big stink in the particular thread where he posted these obviously falsified benchmarks and managed to get mods to delete the evidence of his benchmark faking. The modus operandi being : Say whatever you want and make fake benchmarks as "proof" and then when caught red handed just throw poop on the walls and make a big stink and get the proof of these lies deleted. I was a step ahead of this particular benchmark faker and saved the entire page though. If anybody wants to see it let me know and I will pm it to you. Here are the fake S2 benchmarks in question:

I did some tuning to my rig in the past few days and managed to squeeze a few more fps out of my rig after getting my OC up past 4.8 Ghz and my 16GB of Samsung RAM running @ 1890 Mhz 8-9-9.

For future reference this is what I was running when I ran this benchmark.

AMD FX-4170 @ 4.86 Ghz. CPU
ASUS M5A97 EVO motherboard
16 GB Samsung 30 nm RAM - 4x4GB@ 1890 Mhz 8-9-9
2x Powercolor AX-6790 GPUs OCd to 910/1100 from the stock 840/1050

Hawk, sorry to necro but i've been accused of cheating this benchmark. i was just wondering why you have a low score. was this score for your current rig?

here is mine with a stock cpu and gpu . . .

That 50 fps score with 2x GTX580s was because of an SLI problem with this game way back when the game first came out, which is the date of that particular benchmark. AFAIK this has since been resolved. Why do all of your completely unrealistic high scoring benchmarks have the DOS window showing the benchmark settings conveniently blocked with the results window ???? If you were actually aware of what a 6870 can really score on the S21080p benchmark (40-45 fps maximum, even with an i7 pushing a 6870) you would also know that saying a stock Phenom and a 6870 scoring 58 fps is completely impossible.

Cmon now, this has gone far enough, give it up already.

Here is what I score on the "Shogun 2 1080p HIGH" benchmark using rdr's "cover the DOS window that shows the settings" method. My real one is posted above.

Jag, i ran it again. here is the screenie after the bench is done . . .

i clicked the score to expose it . . .

here i expanded minimized steam . . .

and here i expanded the dos window and moved the score to the side . . .

i am pretty sure your system is more powerful than mine but my goal here is to find out if my score is really out of whack. sorry, dude, it is what it is.thumb.gif

It is what it is alright. rolleyes.gif

How many times getting caught posting fake benchmarks is required before someone's credibility is zero?

One time is my threshold.

Its because of the CPU. Shogun is a CPU intense game yet only uses 2 cores at max I think.
