Questions about Sager Notebooks

Thread Starter
I am in the process of buying a new laptop right now. My old one was a MBP from about three years ago and it has served its purpose, but I won't be going down that overpriced road again.

I have heard many good things about Sager so far and as of right now that is who I will be going with, unless someone is able to convince me not too.

First things first, I will be using this laptop mainly for school, just general web surfing and writing papers, sshing into the school computers and what not. I do also plan to take it over to a friends house every once and a while and play some games like diablo 2 and 3 when it comes out, but gaming is not a must as I already have my desktop for that.

I just have a couple of questions in regards to the sager notebooks that I haven't been able to find in my research.

1) battery life? I wasn't able to find anything on their website but have read reviews saying for a 15 inch, which is most likely what ill be getting, its around 3 hours. Can anybody verify that?

2) trackpad. How is it? I really liked the feature of macs where you just use two fingers to scroll through a page, is there anything like that on the sagers?

3) would there be any improvement if I upgrade the wireless card? My first impression is a resounding no, but you never know...

4) upgradability. Is there enough room to add a second hard drive or ssd?

I think that is all for now, thanks for all the responses!

EDIT: For those that own sager notebooks, if you buy them with an OS, do they ship with the installation disks? I am going to try and fit an ssd into my budget, would they install windows onto the ssd or hd? And one more question, does anyone know what xotic pc uses to ship to canada? If it is ups I would be disappointed...

Battery life would probably be around 2 hours.

The trackpad, AFAIK, doesn't have the features that Macs have.

Depends on how fast your internet is.

I believe so.

Which model are you looking at?

I'm looking at the 5165 atm. Gonna upgrade it to the i7 and possibly bigger hd.

Do you know if it has any features for the trackpad that allow faster scrolling than clicking on the scrollbars? And in terms of internet, I believe ours from shaw is around 7 or 10 mbps (advertised, haven't done a speed test in a while). And ill be husing a wireless N router at home. Does that change anything for question 3?

If it is any recent synaptics trackpad (verify with owners of the same laptop), then yes, you can have two finger scroll and pinch zoom and lots of fancy stuff with the latest 15.2 drivers + Synaptics Scrybe.
I use that on my SXPS16 so I know

Sager notebooks are pretty solid generally so you'll be fine. About the wireless.... what's the default? 5300? Generally speaking, you won't notice much (if any difference with a wireless card upgrade), but heck... this is OCN and the latest hardware is an addiction.

To get an additional HDD, you will have to sacrifice the optical bay.... (check the customization link at xoticpc )

If it's only 10 Mbps, it won't matter much.

I know if you buy from XoticPC they will give you the installation disc. You can always email them to double check, and/or ask for the disk.

Email them to be sure. I'm in the US and they sent me my laptop with UPS.
