New laptop ?

Hello ! I am going to buy a new laptop , and I would need some advise.

What is your maximum budget? I guess there is no MAX budget , but wouldn't want to spend more than 1000$

What country are you in? Latvia

What will be the uses of this laptop? Gaming , work , films , music , some photoshop

Do you have brand loyalty or care which brands we select for you? I guess not , but I have some specific needs.

What screen size do you require? I would like to have as my current laptop - 17 inch screen size [ 17,3 is precise I guess ]

What screen resolution do you require? Umm , not sure , 1600x900 would be nice , I'm used to Full HD [ 1920x1080 ] so anything that's close to that I guess

Are you looking to buy NEW or would refurbished/recertified/used be okay? New

How long should the battery last? (Under optimal conditions, no movies/games/heavy internet) At-least 2 hours , 3 + hours preferred

What games would you like to play with your laptop? And on what settings? GTA IV , NFS HP , BF BC2 .... , on settings the games won't lag

What operating system do you need? (if any) Using XP Professional SP3 , haven't tried Vista or 7 , so I guess Windows 7 then.

Is there a certain style of laptop you want? (aluminum, black, gaming, etc.) I guess not , just don't want it to get scratched fast and want it to bee umm reliable, durable

How much hard drive space do you need? 100 GB + is ok

Do you need any special hardware? (blue ray, webcam, specialty ports, etc.) I don't want integrated video-card [ because of games , my current one sucks and it's integrated ] , web cam would be nice

Is there anything else we need to know? I want a new laptop , 17,3 inch , 2 core or higher , 2 GB ram or higher , not integrated video-card , web cam would be nice. After some 3 hour gaming it wouldn't heat up , like as I could cook something on it, want good - low or decent temperatures. Durable, scratch resistant.

As I will be opening and closing it ~ 20 + times a day , I'd like a one that has umm good ummm springs ??? like after time when I open it and have it in my lap , it won't go forward or backwards by 1 cm like jiggling. My current one doesn't stand on it's own. The screen just goes both ways straight, the umm thingy that holds the screen [ needles ??? ] is a bit messed up. [ broken ] So I need to be careful when moving if I have it in my lap , because ti could fall back and break of the screen. So don't want that to happen.

I was thinking of buying it here , there are a lot of laptops and can tick 17,3 inch , so it only shows them.

Here also 17 inch ones.

Are there any laptops in these 2 pages that would be as in my description above ?

[ English is not my primary language , so there are some mistakes , and some words I don't know. Sorry. ]

if you don't mind going a little bit smaller on screen size, I would highly recommend a lenovo ideapad y570, it has sandybridge in it, and is a very powerful laptop. The only thing is the screen res is kinda lower, and the screen size is kinda smaller then you want.

Of the ones listed on the 2nd site, the Vostro's look fairly durable on the hinges and lid, but really you might want to compare the gpus and see which would be best within your range. GTA4 would be a bit demanding on a laptop without reducing some settings or having a quad. Those would price out at $1100 though. Asus seems to get good marks for budget gaming but it seems prices are a bit higher over there.

I would say if you want a quad core laptop. then go with the lenovo y570 with the i7. beast rig for only like 1300 dollars.

Asus N73, or the HP DV7-6xxx. Though on your site they both seem overpriced by quite some. And the dv7 has only a 6490 not a 6770. Both have i7 sandybridge and a decent graphics card + long battery life. DV7 has hd+ (1600x900), the N73 you can get full hd.

The asus one doesnt look bad though , and it comes with case + mouse.

Asus N73SV seems to be cool , the price is not what I want so I might wait some time for price drops. But I need a new laptop in a month , so I don't think I will get a price drop I want.

and

http://www.dateks.lv/cenas/3/53909_d...7_hp_64bit.php

All 3 have not integrated video-cards , 2 core processors , 1600x900 resolution , 17 inch displays , 4 gb ram and a decent size HDDs.

What do you guys / gals , say about one of these three ? Which would be better as in performance , and as in quality [ build quality , temperatures , and if opened + closed ~20 times a day , won't get loose ]

... I know that. Those games were as an example , and I don't think that they will lag if I have 1280x720 resolution and lowest settings.

I guess I will make a new thread where I put the laptops I had in mind.

Which is the whole reason why I recommended the Lenovo Y570, because it can play all the games he wants without lag.
