As soon as I took mine home, I discovered the overdriven bass of the display was more a result of the song rather than the headphones, because when I got home, set my equalizer to preference, and tried acouple of bass heavy songs(few rhcp songs, miss you by the stones, push comes to shove by van halen, malignant narcissism by rush, etc) it was much more subtle and balanced with the rest of the range, and more punchy when it needed to be punchy, rather than deep and pounding over the rest of the song making it hard to gear anything else like in the demo music.

Again, I didn't and wouldn't pay the retail price for them, but if someone offered them to me for 250-300 bucks I'd take them no problem, I've enjoyed my pair.
Such a shame, could have gone Denon D2000 for the same price and gotten 5x the quality

So basically you eq it to sound decent. I don't really like using eq.

i wouldn't shy away from equalizing. chances are no set of headphones will ever be a perfect match to your listening preference.

They just want the bass I guess, might as well sell 'em Beats if that's what they're looking for. But yeah, I do use EQ too - for my D2000s I have a very slight boost in the midrange and for my speakers I use a very slight boost at the very low end.

Was talking to somebody at best buy.
She said they have to send in the display model every 2 or 3 months cause the keep breaking.

I don't doubt that at all, they always seem to be broken whenever I've been in a Best Buy.
