What type of computer do i need just to video edit and surf the web

I want to build 2 computers and I need help to know what components are good for each one, the first one is for Video editing and the second one is just for watching movies and surfing the web. I would like them to be AMD based computers and try to keep cost as low as possible.

The Web Surfing Computer handle streaming HD movie/Videos (think Youtube HD 720p-1080P and HD to Bluray movies). What kind of CPU should I use? can a dual core handle it? Im thinking 2GB of memory should be fine. I'm leaning towards an on-board video solution since it wont matter much on this type of computer..

The Video Editing Computer looks like it would need more memory, 6GB-8GB? How high end of a CPU will it need? I assume that since it is not a gaming computer I could get by with mid-range Video Card.

for video editing getting an or x4-x6 cpu and nvidia card with cuda can help if the video editing software supports it
4-8g of ram will be enough
2 hard drives will speed things up quite a bit, read from one drive, encode to another

for web surfing and movies/videos ahtlon x2 will do fine with a decent video card
onboard 4200/4250/4290 would be great for 1080p

Thanks alot, I'll look into these.

x4-x6 CPU
AM3+ expandable motherboard (there will be 8 core 32nm CPUs out soon from AMD)
8GB of RAM if you can afford it within your budget, it benefited me largely for video editing
an iGPU would be great for 1080p playback but if you use programs that use nVidia CUDA or GPU encoding of sorts get a good nVidia card i.e. GTS 450
Definitely 2 or 3 hard drives, even if one is smaller; one of them should be dedicated to pagefile and separated from the rest of video files (video editing is pagefile heavy) and perhaps for the main drive you could do a RAID 0 which may really boost performance of things such as the live preview.

First, what kind of price are you looking at?

Id say for web surfing and YT videos you could probably get away with the integrated 4290 on an 890GX board. Either that or a 785G with its 4200 graphics. Hell, a Zacate E-350 should fit the bill perfectly for that kind of stuff. Only $90 (After Rebates) for this Sapphire E-350 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813154020 toss in 2 or 4 GB of RAM, put it in a case and you're pretty much set. The 6310 graphics can run crysis so it should be perfectly capable of playing YT videos and surfing the net. Also people have said they're pretty decent HTPCs too .

As for video editing. Either an X4 or X6 should do. There's 2 ways you can go about this, either pickup a cheapo X3 or X4 Athlon to tide you over for now and AM3+ mobo to upgrade to BD when it comes out. OR pickup an X4 or X6 Athlon/Phenom and keep that as your video editing rig until Enhanced BD comes out or whenever you need more power.

You don't need a seperate video card for either computer. For the video editing machine pick up a sandy bridge CPU/mobo and 8gb of ram, and for the video watching one just build the cheapest amd rig you can. Even one of those tiny prebuilt AMD fusion computers would be fine.
