460 EE = Terrible Card

Thread Starter
For as long as I've had it, I've always had this problem with Crysis Warhead, Crysis 2 and Crysis.

My clocks aren't even that high. Max temp during these pics was 94C which isn't as high as this card has been. Fans were somewhere around 85% or so. Anybody else get this?

My testing with my 460 and 560's found that anything over 70C on the GPU with a moderate overclock and voltage created some "sketchy" stability issues. From the looks of it, your ram is either overheating, or on the way out...

94C may be "normal" for a stout card like a 470 or 480, but I don't think the 460 is built to endure that for extended periods of time.

Tried playing at stock settings, did it for me when overclocked too high for the voltage i was giving it. (didnt want to go higher as it is just too loud and too hot)

I played for only about a minute and they appear. Like I stated earlier, its only Crysis games I get it. I've been on 98C forever on other games and see no problems at all. It's just a terribly designed card IMO.

Yup I just "enjoy" the ridiculous noise of my EE. I leave it on 89% for Folding and temps are usually 80C or so and I've come to get used to the garbage noise.

EDIT:

I never boosted any voltage on my card as I'm afraid to. Because its junk. haha

Give EVGA a call and see what they can do, as long as you registered on their site within 30 days of your video card purchase you should be able to RMA it without issues.

And also, are you running that 460+GTS250 on your board + your CPU overclock on a 630W unit from Rosewill? Could explain the artifacts possibly

I believe I registered it in the 30 day limit.

And yes. No voltage is added to my CPU so thats not a problem. There is no problem power-wise as I fold constantly with both GPU's and there is never a problem.

I know mines bad, but it doesnt get as bad as that. I can have voltage on 1.087v, core clock at 930 shader 1860 memory 2250 and fan at 100% and temps barely touch 68*c.

But on auto fan speed i goes straight into the 90's

I'm getting a new cooler for mine soon anyways so finally will be without the dreaded Turbo fan that sounds like a jet.
