GPU BLock Installation Question

Thread Starter
When installing the GPU waterblock (EK-6970), which is the best to use on the gpu, AS5 or MX-4? Also, what do you put onto the VRAM? Anything? I want to make sure I order everything so I dont have to wait 2-3 more days once everything arrives to reorder what I miss.

Thanks!

Ek blocks come with thermal pads for the vram/mosfets/vregs. I personally used IC7 in my gpus but I'm sure either of your choices will work.

MX-4 is electrically non-conductive so use that. AS5 while not being conductive still comes with the recommendation of not letting it touch traces. MX-4 also performs slightly better and doesn't have a long cure time. I used AS5 but simply because I has some left over.

I used shin-etsu grease that was like $6 off ebay (or there was some in a HardOCP bulk buy), since it's non-conductive and rated as one of the best TIMs out there. I would have also used AS Ceramique since it's non-conductive as well.

doing a full block installation on my 6950 was a little scary, but was easy, straightforward, and very successful. No more GPU fan noise!!

I used mx3 on my 6970 ek block much better than as5 and i used on the gpu and on the phase regulators(with thermal pads also) as suggested by EK. So far it has worked beautifully.
