This is only true if you are considering competitive gameplay. It is also probably not the most entertaining to be watching someone play a 10 hour civ 5 game compared to a 20-60 minute starcraft 2 game.

In turn based you can afford a lot more mistakes as well compared to RTS where one mistake can cost you a game.

That's not a Sid Meier game.

The best Sid Meier game was Alpha Centauri imo. Although it's a Brian Reynolds game really.

To be honest, a remake on the Civ V engine would make me more then happy also.

Nope.

The real father of modern day RTS games like Warcraft/Starcraft/CnC et al is Dune II.

Civ and the like aren't even in the same vein of games, if you want to see the genres converge you should play Sins of a Solar Empire.

And for all the Civ 5 haters, I love it. I can't really get into the games much at all but I can sit there for hours and play Civ 5. Insanely addicting, and it doesn't bog me down in a bunch of mundane junk.

Dune is technically the grand daddy of all RTS. Civ popularized turn based strategy.

I really like Civ 4, but my true love is Alpha Centauri. I've been playing AC since way back in 98. I don't think Sid will ever be able to top that masterpiece.

The last 2 releases, Civ: Advance Wars (Civ: Revolution) and Civ 5 are pretty meh.

But lets not get into Civ 4 vs. Civ 5 arguements...

I agree, however i like games like Total War, which are a combination fo Real-time and Turn-based, buti bought Civ 4: colonies for 50 cents at a yard sale and i didnt really like the game but i was only out 2 quarters so hey, i think it was worth at least that. I just couldnt get into the game
post #30 of 39
I always wanted to try a Civ game, but my strategy game time is always consumed by AoE 2 and the Total War series.
What's going on.
